About this deal

There are only a handful of colour choices to choose from in the Dulux Cupboard Paint which is fine if you’re happy with those but if not you’d need to get something mixed. When looking for the best kitchen cabinet paint overall, it’s hard to look past Johnstone’s durable Cupboard Paint. Made specifically for kitchen cabinets, this paint is a simple solution to giving your kitchen a fresh new look.

If you’re looking for the best white kitchen cabinet paint you’ll want something that is durable, easy to clean and better yet, stain resistant. In this instant, we’d go with Dulux trade Diamond Satinwood and more specifically, the Pure Brilliant White option. This paint, like Johnstone’s, has been formulated specifically for kitchen cabinets and is suitable for application on anything including melamine, MDF, plywood and chipboard. This is the most durable specific kitchen cupboard paint on the market but does take awhile to dry. If you’re OK with that, this might be the paint for you. For reasons of hygiene and safety, personal grooming products, cosmetics or items of intimate clothing cannot be returned. Perhaps the best attribute of this paint is its durability. The formula ensures it can withstand scratches and scuffs whilst also being water resistant which means you can wash and scrub it without worrying about chipping the paint.

The creamy, satin paint is solvent based and is very easy to apply and easy to achieve a smooth finish when brushed vertically. Being solvent based does mean that you’ll need to take the relevant safety measures as it has a high VOC content and odour. Here are some of the different options that I came across on my travels; to suit a wide range of budgets, colours and requirements… Wilko Cupboard Paint PROS: Frenchic Alfresco Paint seems to have a big buzz around it at the moment – and I’ve used it several times around the house to upcycle and refresh old furniture, mirrors and photo frames. CONS: It’s not technically made for kitchen cupboards, so it could possibly be less durable than other more specialist paints.

The paint is water based which means you won’t need to put up with any strong odours, making it convenient to use in your kitchen without having to take all the doors off for exterior application. Of course, make sure your kitchen is well ventilated before, during and after painting. PROS: Wilko cupboard paint seems to be really highly regarded. I follow a DIY group on Facebook and SO many people have used this paint on their kitchen cupboards – the comments say how easy it was to use on a range of cabinet surfaces, how one or two coats were plenty and that the paint is really durable. CONS: I love Frenchic paint for the ease, the matt finish and the gorgeous colours, but personally I don’t think I would use it on a kitchen. Whilst I love a matt finish, I think having a slight sheen on such a high-traffic and grubby area is the best way to go. Having said that, wax or sealant on top would probably do the job. It’s also been known to be very durable which is ideal for use on kitchen cabinets as they often get touched a lot.I did SO much research before I painted my kitchen cupboards because, let’s face it, it’s far too much work to be doing it again a few months later! I’ve done a round up of the most popular paints that I came across, and the pros and cons of each, so that you can decide which is the best paint for painting your kitchen cupboards. Get Prices for a Professional Decorator Near You Best Kitchen Cabinet Paint Overall: Johnstone’s Cupboard Paint If you’re thinking about renovating your kitchen and are going to replace your kitchen cabinets, you might be able to save yourself time, money and effort by giving them a new paint job. One of the best yet one of the cheapest – this is ideal for those working on a budget who still want a quality finish. The advanced water based formula has a nice consistency which makes it easy to apply by brush and still get a smooth, satin finish. It’s also handy that you won’t need to use a separate primer or undercoat – simply prepare the surface as you would for any other paint job and start applying. We achieved this beautiful finish with Johnstone’s Cupboard Paint.
