Not sure what size seatpost you have currently? There are a couple different ways to find out.• Most seatposts have the diameter printed somewhere near the bottom of the post. You'll need to remove the seatpost from the bike frame (mark your existing seatpost height with a bit of tape before you remove it so you can replace it easily), and look for a number like 27.2, 30.9, or 31.6 (etc.). That is the diameter of the post.

If you find an item at a lower price with another commercial internet retailer, you will receive it from us at the same price, provided the conditions listed in the link are met. These small but convenient parts can help you fit your seatpost perfectly inside the frame’s appropriate tube. Seatpost shims are generally made of solid aluminum.just wondered if there's any reason to avoid doing this as obviously a shim is never ideal but I cant see it doing any harm but my frame is carbon so don't want to do any damage, although my current dropper is an old 27.2 mechanical one with a shim and I've had no issues with it but 30.9-31.6 is a very slim shim. In your case however, I would advise you to buy the proper size post for your frame. Why? because you can. As you have no real need for a shim, why use one? On the off chance that your next bike wont fit your current seat post? Embrace the now. Run the post that fits your frame, avoid any warranty issues and over all have a nicer, cleaner, more professional looking ride... besides, unless you are running a Thomson Dropper, I will bet that you will be itching to replace your old post when you replace you whole bike.

Due to the ultra-thin spec of this shim and varied manufacturing tolerances of frames and seatposts, we can't guarantee compatibility with all brands on the market Rolled Aluminum shim - the very thinnest shims are rolled from sheet metal. 25.4mm shims need to be so thin as they are etched down in acid to the correct tolerance and are too thin to anodise (show as silver). This seatpost shim converts the width of your bike’s seatpost mount from 31.6 to 30.9 mm. This allows for slightly smaller seatposts or seatpost droppers to be fitted on your bike. I'm looking at getting a new dropper post and my frame has a 31.6mm seat post but I thought it might be a good idea to buy the dropper in 30.9 and use a shim ( http://www.wiggle.co.uk/use-309-internal-shim/ ) as this would future proof me in case my next frame is 30.9.If you're planning on building your own bicycle out of individual parts, and you've just found out that the seatpost diameter is too small for your frame, there's no need to buy yourself a replacement seatpost. The granting of a best price is not combinable with other promotions (e.g. "free articles) from Bike-Discount. There is much debate about the roll of the shim, and the potential for creating additional stress. If your shim is of high quality, good depth, and machined to high tolerances there really should be no issue using one. The seatpost is inextricably linked to the saddle and your cycling comfort, but sometimes finding the right seatpost size can be difficult. We often have bicycle seatpost shims on sale or in our outlet by top brands like Ergotec, Kalloy, Airwings and TranzX.

Switching frames doesn't mean you have to switch posts! Use your old posts without worry with the Problem Solvers Seatpost Shims.Length is 97mm with a 3mm lip totaling 100mm The USE shim system allows you to fit a seat post into virtually any frame size. Our shims are made to 100mm length and are longer than other shims on the market giving your seat post much better support inside the frame. All shims are designed with a "top lip" to stop the shim sliding into the frame.
