No Outsiders in Our School: Teaching the Equality Act in Primary Schools

I understand why the group must remain neutral about beliefs other than its core belief that queer theory and gender identity are highly questionable and therefore ought not to be taught as fact in the classroom. Issues addressed include gender and gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, disability and age. Pupils talk knowledgeably and perceptively about how individuals and groups of people may be different to them in terms of, for example, their disability, age, race, religion, belief or no belief, gender and sexual orientation. Andrew’s work made national headlines in 2019 as it became the focus of protests against the inclusion of LGBT equality in primary schools. The not-for-profit company has been working for the last decade in schools, youth projects and universities to promote ideas of gender identity and gender expression. By being a No Outsiders school, this means that we celebrate diversity and are committed to the principles of inclusion and equality.

We aim for all pupils to be happy and excited about living and learning in a community full of difference and diversity. The weekly assemblies are just as important; they are a great way of demonstrating no outsiders is real and happening everywhere.

NB: There is no requirement at all to “teach” the Equality Act so the basis for this programme is flawed. Transing tomboys and effeminate boys is dangerous and sets gay and lesbian rights back years as well as women’s rights.
