The Farmer is a lovely knife, a bit of a favourite of mine, really attractive with a great deal of function. A robust, large knife supports a steady grip with an ergonomic shape, and the trusty locking blade stays firm and true for smooth, safe cutting. This particular style, branded the "Pioneer range" by Victorinox but known to fans as "alox" after the scale material, or "93mm" after the length, is very much in the same mould as the original Swiss Army soldier's knife issued between 1962 and 2007.
The scissors are identical to the 91mm scissors except that the nail nick has been moved to the outside of the scissors. Its not a major concern because of the out standing warranty from Victorinox, but it is i hope not the start of yet another famous brand going down hill ? A knife blade is a given and I have been pretty vocal about my love for the Victorinox scissors in many of my posts. This makes the lines of the knife cleaner, but does mean you miss out on a corkscrew attachment, which is arguably a bit of a blow.

I have a Nylon scaled Climber - two mm shorter, with a number of additional features I rarely need (Nylon scales are far less fragile than 'Celidor' even if you can't fit a toothpick and tweezers, or a 'Plus' option that adds a pin and pen). It can also function as a rough auxiliary blade, but is considerably less sharp than the razor edge of the main blade.
I quite like the worn look and age related patina Alox knives gain over time but many users complain of this. Most people will be pocket carrying these knives or using one of the well made Victorinox leather or cordura belt worn pouches. I use this probably every day - mainly the scissors which are great on all SAKs - but all the other tools come in use quite regularly.
