About this deal

When we meditate on God’s Word, it helps us to love God, avoid evil, and to walk in His righteousness. This pleases God and brings peace to our hearts. 5. Trust in God’s sovereignty

More to the point: I've constantly found the actions of others upsetting, including fellow Christians. I regularly see or hear people of the faith saying or doing things that would have landed me in big trouble if my mom had seen, heard, or even found out about me acting that way. While I respect my mom's guidance, because I've matured past my rebellious teenage years, I still often think: Why are these people saying or doing all that mess? When my mother and I have talked, she often tells me that you can't control other people; you can only control yourself. This book has the same message, and talks about how control freaks are the unhappiest people of all; the more they realize they can't control, the more frustrated they get. Jesus promised that we would have trials in this life, but He also promised to be with us through it all. When we pray, we can feel His presence and know that He is walking with us through our difficulties. 3. Focus on God’s goodness When Jesus walked on the water, His disciples were greatly afraid of what they saw. But Jesus calmed their fears and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid” (Matthew 14:27). For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him( Philippians 1:29). Hebrews 13:6– So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Paul gave his guilt to Jesus. Period. He didn't numb it, hide it, deny it, offset it or punish it. He simply surrendered it to Jesus" One of the main causes of anxiety is worrying about what will happen tomorrow. We worry about the future. But Jesus tells us not to worry about tomorrow. He says, “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34). Being anxious for nothing means not putting our confidence in things of the flesh ( Philippians 3:3), rather knowing that Christ can be exalted in life and in death ( Philippians 1:20). For this reason, we confidently live for the glory to come. 5. Don’t worry — things aren’t always what they seem. Jesus reminds us that we don’t have to worry about the necessities of life. God is our provider and He will take care of us. This doesn’t mean that we should ignore our problems; it means that we should trust God to take care of us. He knows what we need and He will provide for us. 2. Pray about everything

As I bring my requests before you, I ask for your wisdom and guidance in navigating life's challenges. May your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. In Jeremiah, the Lord says, “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). Paul tells the Philippians that there is surpassing worth to knowing Jesus, over anything that could be lost in this life. For instance, everything is rooted in who you are as what you believe. He even writes "The most important thing about you is your belief system." I cannot disagree more. It's whitewash that doesn't even come close to underlying, genuine experiential anxiety. Rather, it's all about God being sovereign. So if you have anxiety, just remember God's in charge. I'm sorry, but this is so superficial it doesn't even pass cursory theological depth. In 1 Peter 5:7, we are told to “cast all our anxieties on Him, because He cares for us.” When we are feeling overwhelmed, we can take our concerns to God and know that He is listening. We don’t have to carry the burden of our worries alone. In Philippians 4:6, we are told to come to God in “prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” I am inspired by the premise of the book, those verses were written by Paul at such a difficult time and yet he lives in joy, I can say “yes, I want that too” and feel motivated to change to make that happen. Intellectually I am frightened by the statistics and research highlighting the silent epidemic that is anxiety and the horrible effects of a life lived anxious. Max paints a vivid picture of why, logically, we need this change. Practically, I have things to do at the end of each chapter and they really make a difference. The lines I loved say it best: There is a reason the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror. Your future matters more than your past.”

When we focus on His goodness, it helps us to remember that He is in control. We can trust Him to work everything out for our good. 4. Be Anxious For Nothing By Meditating on God’s Word He doesn’t just tell them not to worry, he does so by showing them what that looks like and why such anxieties would be in vain.In John, the Lord Jesus Christ said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). We can’t overcome anxiety on our own, but by the power of the Spirit we can be anxious for nothing. 7. Store up treasures in heaven Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks.

for nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer, and by supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God; When we are anxious, we are more likely to give in to temptation. That’s why it’s so important for us to watch and pray. We need to stay close to God so that we will not fall into temptation.Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Paul has seen, firsthand, the Lord at work, particularly in the midst of trials and persecution. He gives the example of God working to advance the gospel through his own dire circumstances of being held in chains ( Philippians 1:12-13).
