About this deal

I hope I live a very long time, but I know that someday, like all human beings, I must die. Nobody knows what happens next. I hope there's an afterlife. If there is, and if, in the afterlife, you get to meet all the people who have lived before, throughout human history, then I hope I get to meet Frank Herbert. When I do, I will fall on my knees and beg Frank for his forgiveness, for having wasted any amount of my life reading this ridiculous, insipid trash posing as a Dune book. No godinama kasnije pojavio se njegov sin Brian u suradnji s još jednim piscem te počeo objavljivati još dvije serije, prethodnice prve knjige uopće (ukupno 2x3 knjige). After that, Herbert skips forward many more years for 1984’s Heretics of Dune. We’re introduced to a new villainous organization: the Honored Matres, Bene Gesserit who left the known galaxy and returned much changed. These two matriarchal groups continue to battle it out in 1985’s Chapterhouse: Dune, which ends on a cliffhanger, one that Herbert could not resolve; the author died in 1986. Tactile visions encompassed all of her senses, like reality. Had she taken a path to some other place . . . just as the no-ship had once slipped through into an alternative universe? In the end I think I agree with Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson in their Authors' Note when they write, "We wish Frank Herbert could have been here to write this book."

Hunters of Dune

If the other Dunebooks are dense, they seem like picture books in comparison to 1981’s God Emperor of Dune,a massive, highly philosophical acid trip. Without going into too much detail for fear of losing my sanity, Children of Duneessentially ends with Leto II becoming part man, part sandworm, part omnipotent being cursed to live as an eternal emperor in control of the entire galaxy. The book takes place many generations after the events of Children of Dune, and is much slower and more focused on ideas; the God Emperor spends a lot of time expositing about leadership, time, and reality. This is part one of a two part conclusion to the main Dune series based on notes and an outline by Frank Herbert. I've heard and experienced much trepidation regarding this, but thankfully, as long as I'm mostly focused on the ideas rather than the writing, I got through it without any wounds. :) Murbella contracts Ix's competitor Richese to provide armaments for a confrontation with the great enemy, but the rebel Honored Matres destroy the planet to cripple the Sisterhood. Murbella and her Valkyries successfully assault Tleilax, the most powerful of the rebel Honored Matre strongholds, and discover that many, including Matre Superior Hellica, were Face Dancers. Uxtal dies trying to escape, but the remaining Waff ghola finds refuge with the Spacing Guild, offering Edrik the genetic knowledge for the Guild to create their own sandworms. Jako dugo sam ovo čekao, najave idu još davno prije objave knjiga kada je lansirana priča kako su pronađeni zapisi Franka Herberta u nekakvom sefu o kosturu i radnji finalnog dijela njegovog remek djela Dune All of these things are true in my opinion: people are too hard on the Brian Herbert Dune books (aka, "McDune"), the books are nowhere near as good as Frank Herbert's originals, I enjoy the McDune books the same way that I sometimes enjoy McDonald's (or really Taco Bell for me) even though I know it's not good, and it's fun to learn what happened immediately after the last Frank Herbert book even if I know it's neither the same nor as good as what Frank would have written.

I’m a huge Dune fan and just re-read Frank Herbert’s six books for the third time through. The franchise is one of my favourites, and reading Dune in high-school for the first time really resonated with me as it’s such a powerful coming of age story. No, Miles. And I expect the same arguments over and over again." She shrugged. "The other Sisters seem to insist on it." With a quiet rustle of robes, she exited the archives chamber, leaving him with the humming silence of the great invisible ship.Every judgment teeters on the brink of error. To claim absolute knowledge is to become monstrous. Knowledge is an unending adventure at the edge of uncertainty.

The senseless annihilation of Dune demonstrated the true ruthlessness of the Honored Matres. Whores, the Sisterhood called them. And with good reason.Any word from Duncan yet?" he asked, trying to divert her attention. "He was attempting a new navigation algorithm to get us away from—" Oh, crap. Did I just do it again? It's so hard to say what I love about this novel and what I'm already going to love about the one that completes it because the "big secret" is also an ENORMOUS part of everything in the books. Think Gholas. Think a lot of Gholas. Think about awakening a lot of Gholas from a secret cache of genetic materials stashed away by a Master. And think about using these peeps as the last ditch effort to save the faltering and fractured humanity. s Children of Dunefollows the events of Dune Messiah. It revolves aroundtwins Leto II and Ghanima, the children of Paul and Chani, as they try and keep hold on power while avoiding the treacherous machinations of Irulan, Jessica, the Bene Gesserit, and their Aunt Alia. (Yes, Paul has a sister, you’ll learn more in Dune Part 2.) Lo ammetto, la paura era tanta, avrei preferito una rivelazione del Nemico ben diversa e che fosse più consona al tema e allo stile di Dune e meno, permettetemi, "banale".
