The Dovre Extreme GTX field sports boot is a high cut boot designed ideally for hunting, but has been praised as a well serving all-rounder. The height of the boot makes it protective in muddy conditions and the rigidity gives excellent ankle support yet has enough flexibility to be comfortable straight out of the box. Made on the Meindl wide fitting last. The memory foam lining helps you stay comfortable while on your feet all day long. The combination of foam creates extra padding around pressure and pinching points and moulds to your foot over time using body heat meaning the boots will only get more comfortable and individualised to you with use and wear. The boot is finished with a robust Vibram sole, made to provide outstanding traction on all terrains – especially in wet and muddy conditions.

The Meindl Dovre Extreme GTX Boots are one of their most popular styles. Originally intended for hunting, with its taller calf height, the boot is now praised for being a great all-rounder. The Meindl Dovre Extreme Boots are designed for use in extreme weather conditions, torrential rain and freezing snow won’t deter this boot from doing its job. The GORE-TEX lining performed superbly that day. The ground was sodden yet my feet remained dry. The Vibram Multigriff sole gave me the grip I needed in what was challenging conditions and the support they gave my ankles were just on another level compared with boots I’ve owned in the past. lt;li>The height of the boot makes it protective in muddy conditions and the rigidity gives excellent ankle support yet has enough flexibility to be comfortable straight out of the box.</li> Meindl prioritise comfort and have done so here using a Memory Foam System. A combination of foams create extra padding around areas of pressure and pinching and mold to the foot using body heat. This not only gives better support but a comfy, customised fit. Needless to say, I got drenched and learnt a valuable lesson – prepare for all eventualities! The only part of me that was dry and warm at the end of the day? You guessed it, my feet – the Meindl’s had passed the test and proved that investing in good footwear really is money well spent.

Although I mainly use these for my fieldsports, I can also see them being popular with trekkers and anyone else who requires a hard working boot in rugged terrain. Spending a lot of time outdoors demands clothing and footwear that are up to the job required of them.
