About this deal

Nachdem mich „Superman – Friede auf Erden“ inhaltlich als auch optisch mächtig begeisterte, freute ich mich nun darauf ein ebenso faszinierendes Comic-Erlebnis mit Batman zu haben.

The Dark Knightis one of the best comic book movies of all time, with Christopher Nolan's film winning Oscars and changing the cultural perception of Batman forever. This gritty version of The Dark Knight leaned heavily into the brutal nature of Batman. On more than one occasion, Batman has become a mentor to burgeoning heroes. But, was never his softer side on display than with Jessica Cruz, the co-Lantern of Sector 2814 in Justice League #33. When the power ring containing the essence of Volthoom sought out Jessica Cruz, its malevolent power overwhelmed her.

Batman: War on Crime by Alex Ross | Goodreads

There's another rich guy who serves as a moral foil for Bruce, and I guess this urban development sub-plot did serve to accentuate Bruce's good character and integrity. Bruce is Batman not just because he's wealthy; he's Batman because he's refighting Crime Alley every night of his life, as this story emphasizes. The other guy is just a wealthy jerk who never suffered similar childhood trauma, it seems. Marcus lost his parents, but he doesn't have Bruce's wealth and so goes down a different path. Both characters serve as a contrast with Bruce, who acts as a do-gooder in both sides of his life. It's a total commitment. Many comics don't show this enough, because, you know, smoke bombs and Batarangs are cool. Penned by the uber-talented duo of Ross and Dini, Batman: War on Crime tells a heartfelt tale about Bruce Wayne and his growth while fighting the war on crime. After the proposed construction to replace the historic yet impoverished, Bayside area of Gotham, Batman responds to a robbery, only to happen upon a recently orphaned boy, Marcus. Should Marcus join one of the many active gangs around his neighborhood all Batman would have to do is run up and punch him to solve that problem. And if Bruce doesn't like the idea of gentrifying the neighborhood, he could just as easily punch the guy who presented the offer to him. The whole story is narrated by Batman, we get to spend some days with him and see things the way he does. There isn’t a single speech bubble, yet there are so many things said.urn:oclc:record:1348897120 Foldoutcount 0 Identifier batmanwaroncrime0000ross Identifier-ark ark:/13960/s2bzpwsjhbh Invoice 1652 Isbn 1563895765 Lccn 00711423 Ocr tesseract 5.2.0-1-gc42a Ocr_detected_lang en Ocr_detected_lang_conf 1.0000 Ocr_detected_script Cyrillic Ocr_detected_script_conf 0.8277 Ocr_module_version 0.0.18 Ocr_parameters -l eng Old_pallet IA-NS-0001364 Openlibrary_edition The "Smile in the Face of Death" story depicts early events in Batman and Damian's relationship, showing Batman's troubles when dealing with his competent, confident, and independent son. Infiltrating the vile Saturn Club by being captured, Damian breaks established field protocols, putting his life and mission in jeopardy. Oh, Batman. What.. what were they thinking, IDK. The ending was stupid. Actually, a lot of this was stupid.

Full quote: I Want You Yo Remember, Clark. In All The Years To Come, In Your Most Private Moments, I Want You To Remember My Hand At Your Throat. I Want You To Remember The One Man Who Beat You. but was actually lifted this book is its art. breathtakingly beautiful! i had no idea someone can draw a comic so beautifuuly. alex ross, sir, you have my profound respect. There are two big conundrums in this story. The first is Batman wanting to make sure that the boy who survived the shooting, Marcus, doesn't fall into crime. The second is Bruce Wayne discovering from another wealthy acquaintance that the neighborhood Marcus lives in is prime real estate for the super rich. The man basically wants to gentrify the neighborhood, force the old residents out, and use it to build premium housing.Y el arte aquí es espectacular, tremendo. Lejos lo mejor que he visto, el puro arte hace que este libro valga la pena.

For a comic without any speech bubbles nor specific villain it does a wonderful, if not the best job at delving into Batman's mind. Dini does such a good job that when he's narrating in first person it feels like Bruce is a real person. I like that he's both personas here, not just Batman. Batman: The Animated Seriesis one of the best Batman adaptations of all time, with Kevin Conroy and Marl Hamill’s voice work on Batman and Joker respectively becoming many fans’ definitive version of the character. Superman is one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe. Due to this immense power, Superman is often considered to be more of a god than a mortal. Fortunately, the Man of Steel is also a superhero.Marcus does fall into crime. It's almost an inevitability given his situation. No parents, living in a bad neighborhood. There's nothing he can do to stop it. And there's one fantastic moment in here that I won't spoil where Batman manages to talk Marcus down before he does something he'd regret. It's very nice, and the first nice bit that proves not all confrontations require violence to solve.
