About this deal

This wasn´t what I expected and, to be honest, it was a bit of a disappointment. It reminded me of those free annual-sized books they used to do for a pound (and maybe still do) with titles like "The Most Evil People In History" or "True Crime". Fără rușine și pic de teamă, aceștia au comunicat cu noi prin corespondență, iar după obținerea unui interviu cu fiecare, am început vizitele unde destăinuirea a decurs în același fel.

This book is highly misleading and contains information that can be found easily online, however written in a repetitive, often confusing and juvenile way. It is hard to to discern what is a hard fact about a case gathered from the interview and what is just the opinion of the author. There is so many editing errors and only a handful of direct quotes from the interviews, despite this being called ‘Talking with serial killers’.

It's not only the killers who receive this treatment, however. Female witnesses are "plump" or "graying" and the wives of jury members are "plain". Quite what a jury member's wife has to do with the murderers who are the supposed topic of this book I'm not too sure... but then again I'm also not sure not how Berry-Dee knows they were plain given that this particular trial happened in the '60s, but there we have it. This is an interesting book, but I would have loved it better if it would have been written from a more insightful perspective. I am very much curious about their personal views, perspectives and thoughts. About how their mind works. This is my first non-fiction, documentary read for years and I have to admit the book is such an 'enlightenment' albeit its dwellings into the darkest minds and their 'modus operandi' which are really disturbing.

a) This guy calls himself a criminologist, but I couldn't find any evidence of his actual qualifications or credentials.I had a lot of issues with this book, but not because of the reasons you would think (i.e.: reading about serial killers is disturbing and horrific, although yes, it kind of is that too). Oh yes, a book titled 'talking with female serial killers' which includes plenty of women who aren't serial killers.
