About this deal

Retell the story from the bird’s point of view. Where did she come from? How did he first feel when she met Yeti? The “BIGGEST, hairiest, scariest beast” around was lonely. No one in the forest wanted to play with him until someone new fell from the sky and showed everyone how fun and sweet the big guy could be.

Well, maybe not quite alone, but no one is brave enough to go near big, scary Yeti. No one apart from Bird, who gets lost on her way south, makes a special friend, and opens up a whole new world for our Yeti. Text Rationale: A simple tale, told in a gentle way, with lovely illustrations, a good bedtime book Burnley Express This three-week Writing Root would best be begun with a discussion about friendship. The children write a complete story about a two seemingly Write a diary entry from the point of view of the yeti. How does he spend his days? How does he feel?A huge white yeti is lonely but not alone.... Yeti is an exceptionally appealing character with his small head, tiny eyes, and great hairy body. In the first of many wonderful spreads, he is depicted as mountainlike. Just as the orange bird brightens Yeti's world, these two will warm the hearts of young readers. Told with exceptional economy and striking art, this tale of an unusual friendship is a great choice for all libraries."--School Library Journal, November 2014 Renata’s wren encounter proves magical, one most children could only wish to experience outside of this lovely story.

A home-renovation project is interrupted by a family of wrens, allowing a young girl an up-close glimpse of nature. Yeti and the Bird is a new book written and illustrated by Nadia Shireen and published by Random House. I have been looking forward to this book as I really liked the look of it as soon as I saw it. Yeti is the biggest, hairiest, SCARIEST beast in the forest and because of that, he is lonely. Everyone avoids him. No one wants to play with him. Thankfully, one day, an unexpected guest pays him a visit. Little red bird got lost on her way to a hot tropical island and she landed on top of Yeti's head. To Yeti's surprise, she is not afraid of him at all! This friendship will change Yeti's life!

But what made this picture book one of my favorite reads so far this year was the sweet, simple message. Don’t judge a book by the cover. A message I know we all know, but comes through with such fun and love and life for young readers here. A message that needs to be said again and again. We all should remember to look past appearances or reputations or even growls to see someone’s heart. Yeti and Bird give the idea and heartfelt message a new feel and look. I mean what’s not to love about a Yeti? :D

The characters are great and the little bird shows that there was no need for anyone to be afraid of the Yeti – a reminder not just to judge on first impressions, and to give people a chance. The story shows how a small and totally unexpected event ending up turning around everything for the lonely Yeti! The yeti is the ‘biggest, hairiest, scariest’ beast.
