About this deal

Like other colors in the rainbow, it’s important not to go overboard with indigo. Too much indigo results in a person feeling intolerant, judgmental, and avoidant. Too much inward thinking can result in frustration or angst. Used in moderation, however, indigo can be very useful. I have placed my bow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. In fact, a rainbow is not much more than an “optical illusion” that only appears when a viewer is looking from just the right angle relative to the light source.

A collection of Bible verses about rainbows. All these scriptures on rainbows will be from the NKJV and can be used for studying the topic of rainbows in the Bible. The most luminous color in the rainbow, yellow is known to capture our attention more easily than any other color. (Perhaps this is why the most common highlighter color is yellow!)

The most important reference to the rainbow in the Bible occurs in Genesis 9:13-17, where the rainbow serves as a sign of God’s covenant with Noah. This covenant was a promise by God to the world that it would never again be destroyed by a flood. The rain clouds and the rainbow were never again to be regarded by people as a threat of ultimate judgment, but as an unchanging indicator of God’s mercy…. The remaining references to the rainbow in the Bible develop this symbolism. They all occur in passages where judgment is to be announced, notably in Revelation 4:3 and 10:1 in connection with God’s judgment of the world (Ezek. 1:28). In all these cases, however, the rainbow is a sign of the glorious presence of God. It is a reminder that His mercy and grace will finally triumph. “ I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth: When I bring clouds over the earth, and the bow is seen in the clouds . . . I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant.”( Genesis 9:13-14, 16) How Was God’s Promise Fulfilled in Bible History? And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. The Lord… Angels And Rainbows

I have placed My bow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. Nevertheless, the beauty and mystical appearance of the rainbow has caused it to be part of different myths among many cultures around the world. For example, the Norse saw it as a Bifrost “bridge” for gods to cross from earth to their home called Asgard. The Israelites rejoiced, with Moses’ sister Miriam beating a tambourine and leading in a song of joy on the other side of the Red Sea ( Exodus 14:27-31; Exodus 15:20-21). God was faithful in sustaining the Israelites through deep water trouble. But green is also a bit of a dichotomy. On one hand, green represents life and growth; on the other hand, it represents envy. (Ever heard the phrase green with envy?) Maybe there’s a finer line between wealth and envy than we realize. Throughout famous literature, red is used to represent passion, hostility, and war. When it comes to roses, for example, red represents the strongest form of love. It is also the color used to represent evil and the devil. In Genesis, it is described as a sign of God’s Mercy as well as the pact/covenant He made with Noah that such a flood would not be sent again. The colors purple and scarlet can mean or represent iniquity or sinfulness (Revelation 17:3 - 4, 18:16, etc.). Purple itself was used as a symbol of royalty (Judges 8:26). Scarlet by itself can represent prosperity (Proverbs 31:21, Lamentations 4:5). I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
