Overall, I think this book would be best suited to children over 10 years old who aren’t easily upset. To add to that, there were some scenes in the book that more sensitive readers might find unnerving. Their worlds collide when disaster strikes at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and Lizzy’s father’s life is put under threat. Lizzie is a very courageous girl who is curious and has the features of a detective because she has the talent for noticing details that other people can’t. Also, the details about social life in the 18th century in London such as theatres, and coffee houses depict a vivid scene for the readers.Simone likes to share her love for environmental art, and bring life to characters within their worlds. A key part of the story was the girls finding out about slavery and this was woven well into the story - a child who didn't know much about it would learn lots, while someone who had some understanding of this part of history would see a different side of it.
