About this deal

It also includes fantastic character, Ignatius, Sancho and his children (of which Lizzie is one) and wife and the entire premise of a society that doesn’t trust black people , yet is putting on a play of Othello, starring a black man which is controversial, some people are concerned that the only portrayal of black people on stage is of a murderer.

One day, during their investigation they find themselves listening to a meeting held by the Sons and Daughters of Africa, and they figured out that the ‘shadow’ was a bounty hunter involved in the slave trade – whose name was John Wilkins. It really lures you in with it’s intriguing narrative courtesy of Lizzie, and perfectly sets the scene for the mystery while. I think this book has a great balance of humour and seriousness, which is perfect when writing a good book.

Overall, I think this book would be best suited to children over 10 years old who aren’t easily upset. To add to that, there were some scenes in the book that more sensitive readers might find unnerving. Their worlds collide when disaster strikes at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and Lizzy’s father’s life is put under threat. A phan mae tad Lizzie, sy’n actor, bron yn cael ei ladd gan siandelïer sy’n cwympo, mae’r ddwy yn gwybod nad damwain oedd hyn.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. So, as well as being a great story, it’s also informative and a brilliant conversation starter and empathy aid for MG children. Overall, I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery with relatable and likable characters.

And when their eyes meet in the audience of the Drury Lane theatre one night, both girls are sure they've seen something suspicious on stage. Lizzie is a very courageous girl who is curious and has the features of a detective because she has the talent for noticing details that other people can’t. Also, the details about social life in the 18th century in London such as theatres, and coffee houses depict a vivid scene for the readers.Simone likes to share her love for environmental art, and bring life to characters within their worlds. A key part of the story was the girls finding out about slavery and this was woven well into the story - a child who didn't know much about it would learn lots, while someone who had some understanding of this part of history would see a different side of it.
