About this deal

Well, provided that you are keeping the new cable fairly clear of any source of interference, you won’t lose much at all, probably about as much as you would if your house was a few yards down the street, and further away from the exchange. Why Not Cat 5 / Cat 6? Apologies if I am being dense but just trying to buy the correct type of cable in advance of the installation. One can connect the ATA voice signals to the home telephone wiring, but it means some modifications However not wanting to break the law !! I will go down the route you have described as theoretically the old BT NTE5 will still act as a junction box anyway?

How to Install a BT Openreach NTE5C master socket on new

For ADSL/vDSL installations the lower half of the front faceplate can be replaced with a filtered faceplate such as the NTE2000, NTE2005, BT/Openreach vDSL Faceplate or VTE2015, this will give the same benefits of the bell wire filter with the addition of centralised ADSL/vDSL filtering. (Note, these are known as Service Specific Faceplates (SSFPs). The BT/Openreach vDSL version retains the original NTE5 lower front faceplate). Yes. But the “faceplate” filters tend to be of a higher spec.and are more reliable than the dangle ones. I have replaced some dangle ones and seen a marked increase in speed. Thanks Rob. I’ve been told the max speed I can get on my line is 19mb down and 1.5mb up. (been told will never get fibre as on EO Line) This sounds sensible, as it eliminated Openreach raising any query whatsoever. Not that they probably would. By the way, there’s no “law” to break. I’m due to blog on the risks and potential penalties soon.

Step 1: Measure the width of your socket

To achieve Voice Reinjection, unscrew the lower section of the faceplate and gently pull it free. The home telephone wiring is attached to this lower section.

I am down to an avaerage of 17mbps speed now with the new faceplates and around 20mbps with the old filter. The front of the NTE5C MK2includes subtle curves to improve the overall aesthetics but external dimensions remain similar to theprevious NTE5A. Nov. ( 8933.350000) PPPoE is up - Down Rate=12492Kbps, Up Rate=2562Kbps; SNR Margin Down=6.5dB, Up=6.1dBThe master does nothing to affect REN. Additional phones should be fine until you run out of ringing current from the line supply. REN is not such a critical issue as it used to be, as many folks used cordless base stations with their own power supply to power the ring function.
