About this deal

There are many options out there that can over-whelm a beginner leather crafter. Options include natural finishes, acrylic finishes, matte finishes, gloss finishes, ect ect.. the list goes on. The main function of a conditioner is to replenish the lost oils in the leather fibers. This helps to keep the leather supple and soft. Another ‘top tip’ to get more a ‘creamy’ feel to your polish – follow the recipes in the post but allow the polish to start to set in the jug or bowl. When it’s starting to set but hasn’t got too solid (maybe after 5-10 minutes depending on the temperature of the room) whisk the mixture with a normal food whisk / mixer for a couple of mins – you’ll find it goes ‘creamy’ then you can scoop it into your chosen container – it’s a bit more messy but gives a nice creamy consistency if this is what you like Add the boiled linseed oil: Slowly pour the boiled linseed oil into the melted beeswax, stirring constantly with a clean spoon or spatula. Make sure the oil and wax are well blended. The mixture should be smooth and free of lumps. For those of you who do not wish to use the double boiler method, you can use a microwave to melt it.

But the truth is, leather waxes will generally not offer your leather the same level of nourishing and conditioning as specially formulated leather conditioner or cream offer will give you. If you are short on time or are finding it difficult to melt the beeswax using the double boiler method, using a hair dryer can be a great alternative. Simply place the beeswax in a heat-safe container and use a hair dryer on high heat to melt the wax. Make sure to use caution and keep the hair dryer at a safe distance from the beeswax to avoid any accidents. Mink oil, derived from the fat of minks, has long been used as a natural conditioner for leather. Its composition allows it to penetrate deep into the leather fibers, moisturizing and rejuvenating them. One of the main materials needed for polishing leather is beeswax. Beeswax is a natural wax that is produced by honeybees and is commonly used in a variety of household applications such as candles, cosmetics, and even in cooking.Mink Oil isn’t too shabby either when it comes to keeping your leather dry. It forms a barrier that says, “Hey water, you’re not welcome here!” But let’s be real, it’s not quite the bouncer that Beeswax is. Winner of Round 1: Beeswax As with any project, it is a good idea to try this on a small spot first before you coat the whole shoe. Even though it works well with many surfaces, it is best to test . This also means that if your leather is already conditioned or softened, the beeswax will help preserve that state. Beeswax is specifically great to use on unfinished leather goods such as saddles, belts, or holsters. The burnish darkens the leather and it should hide it. If you can easily see the seam then you may want to continue burnishing…but as always it’s up to you. My experience is that this is more an ‘art’ than a science and some people prefer a harder polish, others a softer polish – so you could play with this recipe a bit to get the consistency that’s right for you.

This is a great way to get improve the longevity of those old boots and make them more water resistant. A beeswax leather polish will help keep any leather goods more durable for a much longer time. You may have to do this a couple of times. Adding more wax will take longer to buff Should Beeswax be Melted Before Using it for Burnishes?Always test out your leather wax on an inconspicuous part of the leather item before applying it on every part. This will allow you to see the kind of effect the wax will have on your leather. The method of making all these recipes is pretty much the same – you’re basically melting them together, giving them a good mix then pouring them into containers to allow them to set. However, many of these products are flammable and turps is not very nice if you get it on your skin – so do be careful! Conditioning with Beeswax: Though it doesn’t soften leather like traditional conditioners, it can be used alongside moisturizing products for a rich blend.
