About this deal

It’s all in good fun to learn how to do even one DIY project, and this book can fittingly be called a “springboard book” as it introduces you to self-sufficiency without taking many hits to your wallet. However, you’ll probably need to know more about how to become more self reliant if off grid living appeals to you. So, what about the best self sufficient living books? Well, you have come to the right place!

Find sources: "John Seymour"author– news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR ( March 2011) ( Learn how and when to remove this template message) This was, in fact, the original "Good Life" book and very much a breakthrough in writing about self-sufficiency. This is the updated version, which stays very true to the original philosophy - in fact, not that much has changed at all except for the fact that some sections have been updated to fit our newer, more modern lives.

What’s Inside:

What can you do with a glut of tomatoes? How do you bottle plums and string onions? What can you do that is interesting with all those huge marrows? How do you keep potatoes through the winter?

In 1964 the family moved to a farm near Newport, Pembrokeshire. The 1970s saw Seymour's publication rate reach its peak. In 1973 John and Sally wrote Self-Sufficiency and in 1976 The Complete Book of Self-Sufficiency was published. Appearing shortly after the publication of E.F. Schumacher's Small Is Beautiful: A Study of Economics As If People Mattered (1973) and The Good Life's first showing on British television (1975), the sales of the book exceeded all expectations. It was also set to establish the reputation of two young publishers, Christopher Dorling and Peter Kindersley who had commissioned and edited the work. In addition to self-sufficiency he wrote four guide books in the Companion Guide series. Once you have a system in place that suits the needs of yourself, your family, and your home, then you will start the see the roots of self-sufficiency develop. Angier’s legacy lives on in more than 35 books on how to survive in the wild and how to be a minimalist off grid. I've been blessed in my career, beginning as a 16-year-old, being an assistant manager at 17, a general manager at 20, and the face of the franchise at the age of 30 for over 16 years. This has led to me learning how to get people more motivated to perform their work than they ever thought possible when they accepted the position. I spent over 30 years literally “growing up” with this company and in this business, having been exposed to some of the best companies within their respective industries, learning how they source, on-board, train, and retain their team members, as well as some of the most influential motivational speakers throughout the world.

Live Better, Spend Less

Want to go underground and have an earth-roofed home that is off grid? Do you have a tight budget to work with? This book goes into great detail about why it is beneficial to shelter a home with earth. If you haven’t heard of permaculture then this is the book for you! Almost everyone wants a more abundant, more forgiving garden with less work, and this book tells you how to do it by working with nature and not against it. By following the basic principles you can increase soil fertility, catch and conserve water, attract beneficial birds and insects, and increase your growing yields! This is an absolutely essential book for gardeners that want to work smarter and not harder.
