Putting up the Scorpion 2 was a fairly simple affair with colour-coordinated poles to help you get it right first time. I found the poles to be slightly fiddly to get through the sleeves – they got caught a few times – but this isn’t enough to put me off the tent. It’s frustrating to wake up and find that the inside walls of your tent are covered in water. You only find this out after you’ve accidentally bumped the wall and it all comes falling down on your face. Having cold water spit all over your face is an unpleasant way to wake up in the morning. The Scorpion 2 features room enough for 2 occupants and kit with a front entrance and ample vestibule for added gear storage. A 5000mm hydrostatic-head flysheet provides storm protection with a bathtub style floor to protect against pooling in heavy rain. On the down side of the vestibule is that it can only be unzipped from the bottom of the door. This is a bit of a reach and struggle in the middle of the night. That said, it’s a small down side to pay for a useful vestibule. Some of the vestibule configurations A Good Size – if your under 6ft! The Scorpion 3 IX™ will shelter you from the worst four-season weather, with a 5000mm hydrostatic head (HH) polyurethane (PU) coated flysheet, with taped seams. The Scorpion 3 IX™ has an impressive sleeping space, measuring 220cm/87” long and 110cm/43” wide, creating ample room for three people in a top-toe sleeping arrangement with an additional spacious front porch for extra storage. In an emergency, there is enough space to accommodate up to six people sitting down.

The Scorpion 2™ IX is a true tried and tested favourite of mountaineers, climbers, campers & military personnel that protects you all year round from severe weather conditions. The inner tent also has three Polyester mesh vents to allow for ventilation without allowing bugs to get in. Features The flysheet is 210t Polyester Rip Stop and the inner tent is 190t Nylon, both of which are coated with a 5000mm highly waterproof polyurethane. Having two doors on a tent is a useful feature when space is tight. On the Trespass Battuta, you’ve not only got a door on either end but also a vestibule on each too. With easy access from either side and plenty of space to store boots out of the rain, this two man tent is a great option for those wanting a little extra room. Snugpak is a brand is synonymous with supplying the military, therefore you would expect quality and that is what you get! Like it’s big brother, the Scorpion 3, the Snugpak Scorpion 2 is well built using solid materials.A very impressive tent by anyone’s standards and is not made with cheap materials, it is a top quality product made to some exacting standards.

One question we do have is whether the top of the tent would deal well with snow. It’s fairly flat and due to the ridges caused by the poles snow would build up rather than be displaced to the ground. We couldn’t test this fully, but similar tent designs have been known to have problems with snow. It’s for this reason we classify the Scorpion 2 as a 3 – 4 season tent rather than a full 4 season tent. At the door end (which is a door & mesh door) there is plenty of room to sit up with a height of 122cm, however, the height at the rear of the tent for us was a slight issue, our over 6ft tester couldn’t stretch out with out his feet touching the inner fabric. With two people this maybe even worse and could potentially cause the inner to touch the outer. The shape also means you would require mummy shaped sleeping mattress. Either side open with the other side and central door closed – great for cooking when the rain is coming down.

How to choose the best two man tent

Strong fibreglass poles make this a hardy and reliable tent that should see you through many enjoyable camping trips.

Price – How much are you willing to spend? Depending on the tent features, size and weight, two person tents vary in price.The Scorpion 2 is not a tent for people over 6ft! If your under 6ft then you will find that there is quite a nice amount of room for 2 people, at it’s longest length it is just over 2m and its just under 2m at it’s widest. It’s not a square and it does taper though, as the footprint diagram shows. On the more expensive side of two person tents is the Robens Goshawk 2. With a 5000mm hydrostatic head, taped seams, and plenty of covered porch space, this tent fairs well in poor weather.
