About this deal

I'm not too familiar with that app to be honest, but I can try it out myself if you can give me a link and some brief instructions on what to do. The 7950X3D will give you the absolute best chance at getting the most performance from your expensive GPU, and that's a reassuring place to be as an ultra-enthusiast.

You are good to go, no further efforts required and no messing about with third party apps like Process Lasso unless you want more control, more on this below. I personally don't use it at the moment, but I did set up a profile in the past to test out using project lasso for placing games on the right CCD. It'll pop up with a little window where you can type in a "process match" and underneath set which cores/threads you want it to be set to. We conducted our own cursory tests and didn’t encounter any issues, but we're testing the impact of background apps further. The 7950X3D doesn't consume anywhere near the same amount of power as its non-cached Zen 4 7950X sibling, or the super thirsty Intel Raptor Lake chips, and smashes both it and the Intel Core i9 13900K when it comes to frame rate per watt.

But if it's the other way around, and you're a dedicated gamer with an interest in content creation, the 7950X3D could well be your jam. What is questionable, however, and what has been questioned since the beginning, is how much cache is enough.Produced on a 5nm manufacturing process by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), each CCX contains eight CPU cores for a total of 16 CPU cores.

One of these CCXs is a standard Zen 4 CCX that’s no different than you’d find on any other Zen 4 processor, whereas the other CCX, uniquely, contains the added cache. Even though they come with 8, 12, and 16 cores, AMD’s Zen 4 3D V-Cache processors all have a base TPD of 120W and a max 162W PPT.

I’d the game prefers cache, it’ll use the cache CCD, if it prefers frequency, it’ll use the second CCD. Though the increase in cache size can be beneficial, it doesn’t help with all kinds of computing tasks, and it does come with some drawbacks.
