Her 'adopted' parents helped instill a love of art and woodwork, and her siblings gave some confidence to the very small Virginia who arrived in the States at age 7.

There's points in this where you feel every single step taken by Rusty and, as ever with a Magorian, there will be tears. I've read a sample of this thanks to Penguin UK and it has been a reminder of just why I loved this book so many years ago.
