About this deal

Such is also the case with "Eruption" which took up the whole of side 2 on the original LP and which sounds great on CD. The too winsome by far instrumental “Le Clochard (Bread)” is moldy guitar strum; on follow-up instrumental “Janis” the flute does the heavy lifting.

Moving Waves, also known as Focus II, is their second full-length record, and includes the group's most successful single “Hocus Pocus”. Tommy" features a guitar solo and was named and written by Tom Barlage of the Dutch fusion band Solution. You come out of the adrenaline rush of Hocus Pocus to the gentle acoustic guitar of Le Clochard, so perhaps this was not the best way to start an album; play your ace first.Formed by Thijs van Leer, Hans Cleuver, Martijn Dresden and Jan Akkerman (whom had left his previous band Brainbox to pursue Focus), the band went on to become one of the most influential Dutch rock bands. The Dutch quartet’s second full-length album, Moving Waves —alternately titled Focus II —is one of the least-probable success stories of the early part of the 1970s. Moving Waves", a piano and vocal solo by van Leer, features lyrics by Sufi singer, poet, and teacher Inayat Khan.

Jan Akkerman's Segovia like "Le Clochard" provides a mellower contrast before the multi-tracked flute lead ballad "Janis" which adorned the B side of the "Hocus Pocus" single. White Blue Horizon labels with text in blue, ⚭ Stereo to the left and lower-case Britico below it, unlike Moving Waves which has BRITICO in caps. Le canzoni sono tutte molto belle e alcune delle piccole perle , una tra tutte la sezione di Eruption denominata "Tommy" (in onore di Tom Barlage , sassofonista olandese membro dei Solution , dal quale è stata presa e rielaborata in forma chitarristica la linea di sax sulla canzone "Divergence" dell'omonimo album).Euridice" is a classical lied which segues into the Gregorian-inspired "Dayglow" and followed by van der Linden's drum solo, "Endless Road".

It went on to peak at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart, [6] number 8 on the US Billboard 200, [7] and number 4 on the Dutch Album Top 100 chart. Focus II was recorded from 13 April–14 May 1971 at Sound Techniques and Morgan Studios with Mike Vernon as their producer. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.Hocus Pocus” is a sublimely weird rondo that alternates among van Leer’s scat singing, whistling, and yodeling and Akkerman’s incendiary guitar work—a siren song for hard rock fans everywhere.

Within the framework of a kick-ass rock song you’ll find a killer hook, a pair of whizz-bang guitars solos, “yodeling gnomes” (thanks for the phraseology go out to my Dutch pal, Martijn de Vries), non-lexicable vocals, whistling, tasty jazz flute, and to quote Martijn again, “a drummer who makes me want to head butt the Eiffel Tower. No one in English and America, and I’m including Frank Zappa, could have created a song so utterly off the wall. The track is in fifteen distinct sections, and the suite opens with an uncredited melody from the opera L'Orfeo by Monteverdi. The passages Thijs has created roll out as a giant canvas for Jan Akkerman to color upon with bombastic tones as loud and punchy as an atomic blast yet fully in Jan's control as the blast settles into particles of drifting dust swirling and swaying, drifting and dancing back to earth. The song was written as a rock parody, and it was recorded for the album as it lacked any "outright rock" tracks at that point.La band è una di quelle , nel panorama progressive , dal sound più europeo dal quale prendono ispirazione miscelando musica barocca/rinascimentale con grinta e forza espressiva del rock anni 70.
