The RIVER 2’s maximum solar input is 110W. While using a solar panel with higher-rated power might not damage the PPS, you won’t generate any additional electricity — you’ll end up wasting any solar energy captured that exceeds the 110W solar input cutoff point. However, if you’re powering something like a lightbulb at 60 running watts, you could get over 4 hours of power. Bear in mind that you won’t get the headline storage of 256Wh, but this is the same with all power stations – the manufacturers like to quote headline numbers which are unattainable in the real world (same goes for electric car manufacturers!). One of the most impressive things about the River 2 Pro’s design is how many charging ports EcoFlow managed to squeeze into its form factor. However, any extra electricity produced over 110W gives you no additional benefit. The EcoFlow RIVER 2 Max and RIVER 2 Pro both offer compact solutions for portable off-grid electricity. I would have liked to have seen another USB-C port or two; otherwise, it is hard to find fault with this versatile line-up. If you don’t have a large budget OR if you think you will only be charging your phone, tablet or laptop multiple times over say a weekend of camping then the River 2 will be perfect for you. With a 800W output, RIVER 2 Pro has most of your essentials covered. But why not take power to another level with X-Boost mode? Turn it on to power appliances with an output of up to 1600W, including the coffee machine and hair dryer.It definitely enables day trips away, either for picnics (cool box), powering lights, or (my personal fave) powering a mobile office. You can take your campervan away for the day and easily run a pre-charged 45W laptop for 6-7 hours. Very nice. RIVER 2 has an AC output of up to 300W. Need to power a blender or desktop? Crank it up to 600W with X-Boost mode to run up to 99% of consumer electronics. If the ambient temperature increases beyond this range during storage, the battery discharge rate will also increase.
