Rigid feet further eliminate unwanted vibration while the oversized low noise power supply feeds the digital and analogue circuitry of the player. The new, high-quality AK4490 DAC along with 2 selectable filter options converts digital signals to analogue, this is then ‘pushed’ to the gold-plated synch outputs by Marantz’s proprietary small signal amplifier, the HDAM-SA2. Marantz also now offers a choice of two digital filter options for those that like to tweak further. Filter 1 has a slow roll-off and is claimed to offer a deeper stereo image while Filter 2, has a sharper roll-off and is meant to produce a more direct and brighter presentation. The old cd6006 had a 27mw headphone circuit and it no trouble driving my the 32 ohm loading of my Oppo PM1 planars. The cd6006 had a three gain settings but unsure of the new cd6007. If it follows the sa8005 then it will have a 30mW circuit with no gain settings. It's more than listenable but may struggle with high loading headphones such as some of the Sennheiser models. The remote is a full system design and remains pretty much as before, though a few of the buttons do a slightly different job. It’s a nice handset, being easy to use and pleasant to hold. Marantz developed its own discrete circuit boards to replace standard ICs. These HDAMs consist of discrete surface mount components with short mirror image L/R signal paths. These devices do exactly the same thing as the widely used Op-Amps but outperform these designs dramatically in terms of the Slew Rate and reduced noise level, resulting in more dynamic, accurate and detailed sound. In the CD6007, the proprietary HDAM-SA2 circuit improves on its previous HDAM module for an even more stable power supply. The idling current stability is less influenced by power transistor temperatures to maintain sound performance even at high level output.
