About this deal

The characters rarely seem to have goals, and when they do, they’re either incredibly specific and small or vague and little progress made towards them. Falsely believing Queen Morgase Trakand of Andor dead at the hands of the Forsaken Rahvin, who is masquerading as Lord Gaebril, an angry Rand prepares to Travel to Caemlyn with a small Aiel strike force.

Jordan has a powerful vision of good and evil-- but what strikes me as most pleasurable about The Eye of the World is all the fascinating people moving through a rich and interesting world. But then some things such as the whole whitecloak taking over the world thing which i found a bit boring has been mostly left out of it as well.

Tarabon and Arad Domon are shattered with internal conflict, and even the White Tower, bulwark of the Light for three thousand years, has been torn in two by Rand’s appearance in the world. It starts with the battle for Cairhien which feels climactic at the time, but once it is over, the real ending begins with a very surprising fight with Lanfear. People who claimed they were collecting money to help others often had a way of letting a good bit stick in their own pockets, or else they liked the power that spreading it about gave them, liked it far too much. I’m still reading, that’s a core part of my identity, but I’m only finishing between 4 and 7 books a month. however hard Tairens or Cairhienin or anyone else tried to puff up his head, he could rely on her [Aviendha] and the maidens, at least, to take the swelling down.Moiraine explains that the weave he used was forbidden in the Age of Legends because it erases things before the moment of their destruction.

Moiraine gives Rand two letters—one for him to read later, the other for Thom Merrilin—and claims he needs to see something down at the docks.Rand forgot his dinner meeting with Colavaere since he was busy planning the battle with the clan chiefs and Wise Ones.

She reveals that she knew how events would play out at the docks, and that she knows who “Natael” really is. The problem however is that he feels the need to constantly bludgeon readers with the same point again and again as if they had the memories of goldfish. If you don’t know, even vaguely, what the characters are heading towards and reaching for, it just makes the book feel like a little ramble through the world with the odd attack from faceless monsters here and there. Afterward, Rand insists that they must be married, but Aviendha takes a more cavalier attitude, claiming that the event will not be repeated. In Samara after she encountered Galad Damodred, Nynaeve finally remembers that the rebels are in Salidar; after they arrive, Nynaeve is able to trap the Forsaken Moghedien in Tel'aran'rhiod with the use of an a'dam. The end result is that Moghedien almost dies of an arrow to the chest and Birgitte is ripped from the World of Dreams and, rather than being born out into the world as a baby, is dropped into the world with all of her knowledge and bonded as Elayne’s Warder so that Birgitte can survive.
