About this deal

The scent aside, it has very little dust and it clumps very well. Which makes scooping super easy. Until your cat pees on the side of their litter tray. Then it’s like trying to remove concrete. Higher-quality cat litters often form stronger, more compact clumps, making it easier to scoop and dispose of waste. This can also lead to less litter wastage in the long run. Improved overall experience Non-clumping litter cannot form balls when wet, so they’re not as easy to clean. But they do have the advantage of being much more absorbent than the clumping type. The clumping version, however, doesn’t readily clump, unlike clay. So this is something you need to keep in mind. Cat litter comes in a huge variety of types, some of which will suit your cat and some of which won’t. What all cats do have in common is fastidious cleanliness, so they’ll always appreciate a carefully-cleaned, freshly-filled tray. Without it, accidents can occur, especially if your cat is very young or old, or hasn’t been well.

Cat litter is one of the most important items you’ll buy for your cat, but one that is often not given much thought. Cats are very clean creatures, and providing them with a suitable cat litter is vital for their health and happiness. Anything that disturbs their toilet habits can cause stress, and even illness, which leads to an unhappy cat and possibly messy “accidents”. The problem with wheat is that it’s more susceptible to pests since it’s a food source. You have to be much more careful with storing these grains than any other type of cat litter. Another eco-friendly cat litter material is plant-based materials such as corn. These can be very effective litters, and are sustainable and biodegradable too. The only real downsides are theat they don’t always clump as well as clays, and can be a little more expensive. However if you want to minimise your impact on the environment they are a very good choice. Recycled Paper We admit we were a bit sceptical about their 99% dust-free claim. That said, there was very little dust when pouring into the litter tray. There should be sufficient litter in the tray for your cat to bury their poop, and to absorb their urine to prevent it pooling on the bottom of the tray. How Often to Change Cat Litter? After using this for around a year, a clay layer formed at the bottom of the litter box – made up from white dust that bonded when exposed to moisture. It has proven to be impossible to remove (even using a pressure washer). This isn’t a complete disaster, though! The layer doesn’t smell and can’t be seen when the tray is filled with litter. The con of recycled paper is that it’s very basic, offering nothing beyond being absorbent. It has no odour control and might require frequent changing compared to other litters. Also, it’s not ideal for multiple cats. We found that if a clump dried and got we again, it could turn a bit mushy. Another benefit is that Cats Best offers you several size options that include 4.3kg (10L), 8.6kg (20L) and 13kg (30L), at reasonable prices that mean you don’t have to hesitate if you want to give “Europe’s number 1 cat litter” a test drive!

Newcomer Natusan is a 100% sustainable cat litter that absorbs up to seven times its own weight, forming tight clumps that we found super easy to remove. The tiny wood pulp-based granules (all a by-product of the timber industry) smell lovely, and absorb unpleasant whiffs really well to keep your home pong-free. We did find a few clean particles in the carpet, courtesy of our long-haired cat, but the dirty litter clumped so well that it didn’t end up outside the box.

How to Clean the Litter Tray?

The flakes are very porous so they’re super absorbent. Despite not clumping, it’s easy enough to scoop when you do it often. Cat's can be fussy, so unfortunately buying the best cat litter for them won't guarantee that they'll like using it. We also prefer the bright white appearance of the litter, as it makes it easier to visually see cat droppings. You can easily spot discoloured cat pee early on, which is a sign of an underlying health problem. It’s by far the best cat litter box design we’ve seen, but your cat won’t care about that if it doesn’t do the job. So is it worth the high price? Thanks to their technologically refined wood fibres, Cats Best claims that this litter can be used for up to 7 weeks. This translates to less work and lower costs for you.
