About this deal

The Srixon Soft Feel is another in a long line of high quality golf balls for a very practical price. The Soft Feel is Srixon’s long ball with low spin. It features a very thin and soft outer cover that gives the golf ball the “Soft Feel” name but with a very reactive core that produces a great amount of distance. Welcome to The Golf Shop Online, where our passion for golf drives us to provide you with an exceptional shopping experience! The soft, thin cover that has been used in the design of this Srixon golf ball offers players improved greenside spin for greater stopping power while also providing a softer feel on approach shots with wedges from the fairway and bunkers as well as more control while putting.

The Srixon Soft Feel is firmer and is a little more well-rounded golf ball than the Supersoft. The 2-piece construction features a thin and soft outer cover with a reactive and slightly firmer core. It is not as long as the Callaway ball, but the construction lends itself to more spin and feel around the greens. The higher compression rate of the core makes the Srixon a better golf ball for players who swing a little harder and is optimal for players with swing speeds upwards of 100 mph. If you want length, the Callaway is slightly better, but for all around construction the Srixon has the slight edge. Performance Distance Around the greens I was able to hit all the shots I typically use during a round without any problems. Again, spin wasn’t excessive. But the softer compression of both models compared to my normal golf balls of choice meant an increase in height off the face, with the UltiSoft taking a slight advantage again, consistently pulling up a couple of feet short of the Soft Feel when hitting the same shot. The UltiSoft lives up to its namesake as the ultimate golf ball for softness and feel. The foundation of the all-new UltiSoft is the FastLayer Core technology, a unique design that adds distance while maintaining that signature feel. Its powerful distance with maximum softness on every strike. HOW THEY PERFORMED: Looking at the performance characteristics listed on the side of the box, both models suggested the two balls would be similar in most areas, with very slight differences to accommodate a range of swing speeds. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Unsurprisingly with both golf balls including the word ‘soft’ in the model names, the most noticeable characteristic when hitting a few putts before testing on the course was the soft feel.Srixon is known for quality and durability, and these golf balls will last longer than any other ball you will find in this price range.

As my time on the range, short game area and golf course progressed with the Soft Feel and UltiSoft, this proved true. But the differences were more noticeable than I expected, giving golfers who don’t opt for premium golf balls two quality options. The first port of call to test golf clubsis usually the indoor simulator at Foresight Sports, where the team can test in a controlled environment using premium balls and the GCQuad launch monitor. The majority of Golf Monthly’soutdoor testing takes place at West Hill Golf Club, a stunning course in Surrey with excellent practice facilities. It is a great ball for golfers with slower swing speeds of around 90mph or less. It promotes optimal energy transfer from the clubface to the core of the ball and even at the softness level it remains a very controllable and sturdy golf ball. Most ball manufacturers have a “long and soft” option out there, and this is Callaway’s version of that. It is definitely on the expensive side of that market, but the combination of high launch, long distance, and super soft feel make it a very desirable golf ball for players of all skill levels and lower swing speeds. Pros The flight of the UltiSoft with the long clubs was a little higher than the Soft Feel, but unlike some other low compression balls I have tried in the past, was fairly accurate. The added height did mean the UltiSoft wasn’t as good in the wind and was the shorter of the two models for me. As a higher swing speed player however, this wasn’t a surprise and experience tells me at lower speeds this distance trend might actually reverse. By using a Fastlayer Core Srixon has been able to design a golf ball that feels and acts like it has been constructed with multiple layers when really it is one single core that offers a gradual transition from a softer inner core to a firmer outer edge. This gradual core design allows golfers to experience brilliant feel and amazing distance on every shot without having to compromise any other performance.

Q Star Srixon Golf Balls

Featuring a compression of 60, it certainly suits those with mid to slow driver swing speeds of around 90mph or less, as the softer core enables those players to get better spin and distance numbers than they would get with a firmer golf ball. A very soft golf ball that gives you great feel on every shot and especially as you get closer and close to the green. Iron play with both models was again similar and the tendencies from the long game continued, primarily the UltiSoft launching higher. However, controlling the ball flight with both models was easier than expected. Working the ball high, low, left and right was possible with both models, and is another of the improvements I noticed on previous models I have tried. Cover material -Urethane-covered balls offer the best spin control and feel but do cost more. Experiment to see if you notice enough of a difference to justify the extra cost, or whetherthe best mid-price golf ballsmight be an option.

The golf ball UltiSoft lives up to its name as the softest, most supple ball available. The ball with the lowest compression in our inventory offers unrivalled performance with each strike. FastLayer Core has extended UltiSoft's off-the-tee performance. UltiSoft's excellent feel and potent distance are unbeatable if low compression is your top objective. The Callaway Supersoft is a soft feeling ball around the greens and it gets the nod in this department. Both balls are soft and provide great feel in the short game, but really thin and soft cover of the Callaway give it a slight edge. Cost There is also further help in the form of a prominent side stamp in the shape of an alignment lineon the side of the ball, with the 338-dimple pattern working extremely well to deliver a reduction in drag and to get the ball airborne as easily as possible. The Supersoft golf ball has a really low compression rating, but with the soft and thin outer layer it can do more than provide distance to slower swings. Long game or short game? -Which aspect of the game is most important to you? Do you want to get as much distance as possible out of your golf ball or would you prefer a model that allows your short game to flourish thanks to improved feel?

It is a really good ball at a price point that makes it accessible to the vast majority of golfers. Starting at your mid irons and working your way up, the low spin rate works against higher lofted clubs both in chipping and in your approach game because these clubs cannot grip the ball well enough.

Very low spin rate, one of the lowest for this type of golf ball, and that low spin rate promotes great control and accuracy with your longer clubs. A simple, 2-piece construction that is long off the tee, soft around the greens, and produces very little spin so that it stay straight. UltiSoft features a 338 Speed Dimple pattern to help reduce drag and increase lift. These Speed Dimples improve overall aerodynamics for better performance with drivers, woods, and irons. Get ultimate softness and ultimate feel with the fourth generation UltiSoft. FastLayer Core: With a soft centre that gradually transitions to a firm outer edge, the FastLayer Core gives UltiSoft incredible softness and great distance off the tee. Both golf balls boast 2-piece construction with a focus on softness and distance. The Callaway Supersoft has a much lower compression rating and produces very low spin compared to the Srixon. Its distance and accuracy are top notch while the softness of the ball is great for players with slow and moderat swing speeds of less than 95 mph. The HEX design is very aerodynamic and creates very low drag which, when coupled with the low spin, gives the ball a very penetrating flight and high trajectory. It is softer, a little longer for lower swing speeds, and has a lower spin rate than the Srixon. Its 2-piece construction is a very simple and effective design that really focuses on distance and low spin off the tee with a soft feel and touch around the greens. For the distance and soft feel that it produces you will be hard-pressed to find another ball like that at this price. On top of that, Srixon has been a golf ball industry leader for years and is known for the quality and durability of their golf balls. Pros
