On their own, any one of them is likely to get lost in the sprawl of space, but together, they’re they most entertaining gang of bounty hunters in the year 2071. Cowboy Bebop is easily my favourite anime series and watching it again on blu-ray made it even better. The picture is good, despite the bit rate being lower than it should be - for some reason, commentaries are on duplicate versions of the episodes, wasting disc space, and bear in mind this is just 4 50GB discs here, as opposed to the 7 50GB discs the original Japanese release got.

The only downside is the repetition of the intros/outros that top and tail each episode - some BluRay conversions cut that down. interviews with the original English language voice cast of the series for a ton of great reminiscences. Both mixes are of excellent quality, with great atmospheric use of the surround channels, the occasionally more aggressive directional cue, and excellent bass.

The show really benefits from not really having to invest too deeply into the storyline, because 90% of it is standalone and the rest figures a bit into Spike’s past, which even if you missed those few episodes, you would be able to take in the bulk of the show with no problems. If you don't care about the packaging, the italian set is cheap (fat amaray with dust sleeve, ~40€).

Die Box enthält(alles in der Boxgröße) eine art Postcard, Poster kann man es denke ich nicht nennen sieht aber wie einer aus klappt sich in drei abschnitte, 4 mal 28 Seitige Artbooklets, 9 Disks davon 7 für die Serie und 2 Bonus, die DVD Hüllen sind in der größe der Box und sind als Retro Schallplatten Design gehalten aus Pappe man kann sie aufklappen und da ist eine Plastikhalterung für die DVD die Disks passend zum innenleben der Hülle das heißt kuckt man nicht richtig denkt man, man hat eine Schallplatte so ging es mir auf den ersten Blick ich dachte zwar nicht das die DVD die Größe hat sah aber komisch aus naja ist halt cool gemacht allles wirkt edel und ist jeden Cent wert denn es gibt die Box auch noch teurer meine war 200 Euro. It’s not just about the ‘Bebop Crew’ either, as each episode acts as an individual story with new (sometimes reoccurring) characters being introduced to the viewer, such as bounty-heads, friends and old accomplices, however these individual stories don’t distract from the main ‘darker’ theme of the show but it instead reinforces it by showing the resolve that the characters have. They’re probably far more in-depth than you’re going to really care about given that this is only the English dub cast. General Story aside Cowboy Bebop is a show that features plenty of Action (Gun fights), Comedy (randomness) and an impressively composed musical soundtrack, all of which blend together to create a highly entertaining and enticing series. Without this blend the series would not be as enjoyable as it is now, as it offers a nice mixture of entertainment while still remaining true to the story.
