About this deal

Reflex Medical kindly supplied the T3 bandage in this review, and they have offered a 10% storewide discount to BCUK members using code BUSHCRAFTUK21 until June 2021. There are different techniques that can be used to effectively create pressure dressing. These are some basic guidelines: The material mirrors the elastic material of the Israeli bandage, again showing the family link, however, the overall length of the T3 bandage is c10cm longer than the Israeli, coming in at just under 1.7 meters.

A Belgian medical equipment distributor bought the first bandages in 1998. [1] Bar-Natan, having grown the company to a profitable entity, later sold it to PerSys Medical in Houston, Texas, the company that first introduced the bandage to the US military. Today 1.5 to 2 million bandages are produced and sold each year. Holding pressure manually requires you to use your hands to physically push down upon a wound. This is also known as direct pressure. While it can be effective, it obviously ties up your hands, leaving you little opportunity to perform other tasks that may need to be done such as calling 911. If those things do not control the bleeding then a turniquet is the next option, but there are hazards associated with the use of turniquets. Learn these hazards. If ya don’t know what you’re doing you can cause the loss of a limb by inappropriately cutting off all blood flow for extended periods of time. The “H” is not face down into the wound — it faces you, sitting on top of the wound. “Today’s bandage, kids, is brought to you by the letter ‘H’!” If you didn’t have a real tourniquet, an Israeli bandage would be better than nothing – but you’d be better off improvising a tourniquet out of a less-stretchy material such as a triangle bandage or bandana. A closure bar at the end of the bandage to secure the bandage and add pressure to a wound. It allows the bandage to clip neatly in place without slipping [3] and can be used by a "sliding motion with one hand." [2]

They are similar to elastic bandages used to treat sprain injuries, but have three unique features: Wrap the elastic band around the wounded area: Wrap around the edges of the gauze. Then, loop the elastic through the pressure applicator. T3 Israeli Bandage : This bandage has all the features of the 6-inch version; however, it comes with a fold-out piece of gauze (for larger wounds), and it also has a separate roll of gauze. This cookie, set by YouTube, registers a unique ID to store data on what videos from YouTube the user has seen. The Israeli bandage can directly serve as compression for a sprained ankle, shoulder, or wrist. When you wrap the elastic band around the injured joint, the compression reduces swelling and provides support. If additional pressure is required the closure bar is easily removed from its first closure position and inserted between previous layers of the leader directly above the protruding pressure bar and rotated. This rotation of the closure bar acts to further press down the pressure bar onto the wound to exert blood-staunching pressure. The closure bar is used as before to secure the dressing. Remember the mnemonic for treating a sprain? R.I.C.E - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. (Yes, there are many other mnemonics!) Subsequent wrappings of the leader secures and maintains the pad in place over the wound, and by covering all the edges of the pad acts as a sterile secondary dressing. The bandage leader is woven to remain at its full width and will not bunch up or twist itself into a rope. Some dressings come with additives called hemostatic agents. These additives stimulate clotting through various formulations (depending on the agent). These substances got a bad reputation early on because they would have a very strong exothermic reaction (they got very hot). Eventually, the formulas were improved and the agents now are able to encourage clotting without generating heat. Before you fly a plane, you better know how it works. The same is true with an Israeli bandage. The more you understand this tool, the more effectively you will use it.
