About this deal

There are a large number of words that use the same ending, for example, the “ore” in “Lenore” and “Nevermore. Or do you take superlative care for it, polish it and watch out for it, because it is so valuable to you? From this, we can note that the loss of Lenore has left him feeling exactly that: sad and uncertain. Fuelled by anger, and love, Mungo swears vengeance and devotes his life to saving Camilla - and destroying Chester. John, introduced in 1980’s A Falcon Flies, receives a letter from Camilla, a slave on his father’s Virginia plantation, Windemere, saying that his father is dead.

The opening line of this poem proves to be quite theatrical, initiating with the classic “once upon a -” and introducing a typical melodramatic, “weak and weary” character who is evidently lost in thought during a particularly boring night. Mungo St John had a charmed early life living on a southern plantation and being educated in England.By the end of the poem, the narrator is seemingly broken, stating that his soul will never again be "lifted" due to his sadness.

But, much to his chagrin, he finds that beloved estate has been swindled away by the time he arrives, and he is now without home or hearth. Poe underlines the fact that the character has so much more feeling than what he tackles when he confronts his grief. From there he travels to New Orleans and then to Virginia, unswerving in his desire to destroy Chester. What he is finding hard to swallow is the concept of “nevermore”– why can’t these feelings be temporary or a phase? This exposes that the sole core of his suffering was truly Lenore, and he had to open that door of his self-doubt and weakness to figure it out.

Nepenthe is a drug mentioned in Homer's ancient epic The Odyssey, and it is purported to erase memories. Poe's use of animal imagery contributes to the poem's gothic and macabre quality, creating a powerful and unforgettable reading experience.Barely escaping with his life he swore revenge on Chester who had ruined his father and taken Camilla for himself. He then asks for the raven to tell him if he will ever get to hold Lenore again, and predictably, the raven says: nevermore.
