This book could have been so so cliched, but truthfully, it isn't. My favourite parts were when Anastasia describes how at her birth, everyone was expecting a boy, and how her father got really upset when he found out that it was actually a girl. I loved Anastasia's character development, the little tidbits about Russian court-life in the early 20th century and descriptions of various people around her, like Rasputin, Princess Anya, etc. Meyer's writing skills shine in this book and you can even love characters who are not in the fore-front of the book, like Tsar Nicholas and Anastasia's eldest sister, Olga. I know you kept your mind open about the Ambassador for about 8 or 9 months but what he is 'promoting' and 'projecting' and 'pitching' and as hope, in reality, rely upon those holding the gold as they always have... and of that there are no Ringing Cedars, nor the simple truth which a grain of mustard seed holds; just promises and those who rightfully question them.
