About this deal

The Pro-Ject VC-E is a mainstay of my day-to-day record cleaning here at Sound Matters. It’s the baby cousin of their flagship model, the VC-S3. It works, essentially, as a vacuum cleaner for your records. The vacuum arm supplied with the Okki Nokki ONE is ideal for all size vinyl, including 12 inch, 10 inch and 7 inch, meaning you don’t need to swap the arm when cleaning different size records. A goat hair brush allows you to brush the records dry, and the record clamp and label cover keep the vinyl’s central label free from any fluid, whilst held securely in place by the clamp. The Okki Nokki ONE includes a dust cover for when the record cleaning machine is not in use. The Project VCS comes in two different versions – MKI and MKII. The former featuring a metal base and vacuum, and the latter constructed almost entirely from nylon.

The Okki Nokki ONE record cleaning machine is simple to use, with a single button control. Featuring a bi-directional 12 inch platter, the cleaning machine is able to clean deep into the groove of each record using the supplied cleaning fluid. With a quiet yet powerful vacuum system, the Okki Nokki ONE deposits the fluid in the waste reservoir, which has a useful level indicator letting you know when the tank is full and can be emptied. They gave me the up grade the VC-E machine the one on the list above. I have to say It’s quiet & smaller and works great if you have the money I would highly recommend this machine or one like it. The down fall for me is the record spins off on the corner not in the middle like my other one. So if you put too much fluid on it, it all spill all over on to the floor or your table and there Drain hole is on top underneath the record so as you clean it the water shoots up hitting the under side of the record? so it gets all wet again!! why couldn’t they put it on the side like my the other one? . They did give you a clear plastic record to put underneath your record so the water wouldn’t hit your record. I bought this machine mostly based on that it was just grabbing on the label only and not laying flat on a platter like a turntable. I did some research I took a few Ideas from people on what they did and cut a plastic soda bottle in half & put it over the drain hole to vent the water out not up! Well it works!! the other was when I took off the wand I noticed the fan is mad of plastic and the nut was rusted you think they would have gave you a Alum or a stainless steel nut on there not just a metal one Metal Rust’s!!! so Far it’s holding up. the Pros It’s a much small machine then the VC-S the out side made out of Alum which works for me. it’s somewhat quiet not to noise does it job in a couple of spins and grabs just on the Label which I like. . . Again it’s a great machine and I would recommended or one like it. By contrast, Project VCS does things a little differently. With a platter that is more or less the size of the record label. To tighten the record into place, you will use a clamp that is also the same size as a record label. Thankfully, it is waterproof enough to withstand the elements thrown its way. This means that when you flip the record to clean the other side, the side you just cleaned is not met with a dusty and dirty platter. The simplicity of the components might belie the power of this cleaning machine. Fear not, for the minimal components ought only to ensure there is no nook or cranny available for doubt to fester in and multiply. The BeginningAn aluminum clamp keeps your record in place while it spins to ensure the vacuum can thoroughly clean every inch. Pro-Ject includes a 500mL bottle of cleaning fluid, so you can start using it right of the box. There’s no information on how quiet this record cleaning machine is, but it’s probably louder than our other recommendations because of its more powerful motor. That motor also contributes to its size: at 21.8 inches tall and 17.2 inches wide it’s the largest record cleaning machine we’re recommending. The Okki Nokki ONE includes a dust cover for when the record cleaning machine is not in use. Okki Nokki was founded in the early 2000s by Johan Bezem, a Dutch engineer and audiophile with a passion for vinyl records. He recognized the need for a high-quality, easy-to-use, and affordable record cleaning machine in the market. With this vision in mind, Johan set out to create a product that would cater to both casual listeners and serious collectors.Record Doctor’s V is a more entry-level record cleaning machine that’s great if you don’t have a lot of space. Enter the Okki Nokki One record cleaning machine. This is the newest iteration of Okki Nokki’s popular line of RCMs, designed as a stand alone unit dedicated to cleaning your records. The technology is remarkably simple - it is essentially a vacuum cleaner with an anti-static velvet brush to remove dirt, dust and grime from the grooves of your record. Alternatively, it might be useful for someone who has a large vinyl collection that they are looking to get rid of. Or maybe they have inherited it from a relative.

One very useful feature of the Okki Nokki is that it has a float mechanism, that stops it operating when the fluid needs to be drained, so there's never any danger of water getting into the motor. Which given its electrical nature, has got to be a good thing. If a lot of records are shined up in one sitting, the dirty fluid reservoir inside the Okki Nokki may get full. There’s a tube on the rear of the cleaner that facilitates draining should it become necessary. With occasional record cleaner usage, most of the residual fluid will evaporate on its own.Besides the fact that the service these kinds of machines offer is not always the most obvious to an undiscerning ear, there are also some other things to consider when looking to invest in such a machine. Unfortunately, our Installation Service excludes all gas appliances. It is the customer’s responsibility to find a gas safe engineer to connect the appliance. Any work conducted by a third part gas safe engineer will be at the customer’s expense and we will not accept any liability for their work. The 50ml of cleaning concentrate is formulated for dilution into a liter (roughly a quart) of water. I find a pair of narrow-tipped, refillable mustard or ketchup squeeze bottles – like those you might see in a diner — serve very well for fluid dispensing and storage. If you chose to go this route; make sure to label the bottles. I don’t think this solution would be appetizing on French fries. Cleaning your records after every two to three plays can have a dramatic impact on your listening experience, generating more space between the instruments, and increasing the overall size of the soundstage. By vacuuming out even the smallest particles of dust and other residue from the grooves, the stylus is then able to reach previously unheard detail in the recording. https://www.machinedesign.com/community/editorial-comment/article/21832227/5-myths-about-speaker-wire

This thing is rather large and cumbersome in terms of its dimensions and weight. Yet, this thing is remarkably easy to use:

The MK II couldn’t save all of our records because it can’t fix scratches, but it did a good job of reducing the amount of surface noise and pops from our records. Your experience will vary based on the general condition of your records, but expect some level of sound quality improvement on all of them. Again, if a record has physical scratches, especially deep ones that run across it from edge to edge, the Okki Nokki will not be able to fix that damage. At Expressive Audio we understand and want to emphasise the importance of good record care, not just to promote the longevity of your vinyl collection, but also to protect your stylus from microscopic debris and allow you to listen to the record exactly as the artist intended. Given that the record itself is the very first step in any analogue system, it would be a shame for that to be hampering the performance of the rest of your kit, especially when it is so easily avoidable. One manufacturer that has contributed a lot to the fact that record washing machines are now relatively widespread is certainly Okki Nokki, because it was this company that ensured that such solutions were offered at attractive prices a good 15 years ago with the Okki Nokki Record Cleaner. It is interesting that the developers offer two concepts for the record edition, namely a usual big plate on which the records are completely resting, but also a variant where only the label of the record is fixed. By simply removing and attaching the different platters, the user can thus use the option he prefers.
