About this deal

Suddenly, Leopold shifts into the Lion and throws the soldiers off him. Drew unleashed the Wolf and engages Leopold in a fierce battle. Despite being stronger, Drew starts to lose when Duke Bergan, Duke Manfred and Count Vega intervene, the former two in their beast forms. They gave Leopold a choice to leave or die. Cain and Abel: Vincent is the Cain to Hector's Abel. In a turn of this trope, Hector kills Vincent, albeit accidentally, and it ends up causing a lot of problem for everyone later on. Barbarian Tribe: The Ugri, who dwell the Northernmost part of Lyssia. Although unlike the Wyldermen, they aren't cannibalistic.

I really love the style in which Curtis writes. It’s not the usual day to day words but writing that grips you to your seat. There is this magic and splendour to it that makes it unique. This one was recommended to me by an enthusiastic young male reader, and I can see why. Werewolves for young adults, yes, but none of that romance stuff or competition with vampires or anything at all like the horde of Twilight spawns. It's a high fantasy, where the lords, ladies, and nobility are all werecreatures of one sort or another.

The Reveal: Baba Korga is introduced in Book 2, but Trent finds out in Book 3 that she died months ago; the current one is an impostor. Book 4 reveals is no other than the Serpent Vala. There were new characters introduced (especially from the Arena (called Furnace)) and many of them are already well characterized :D And i can't help but laugh over what happened to me when i said "Hey, i like this guy". He died in the next chapter. And damn, and he had cool name too and was an awesome were(iwontsaywhat) :(((

I was surprised with how hooked I was to this book. And, before I got any further, yes, it did have the typical tropes of a fantasy novel: a farm boy who finds out his very existence is in danger, yet valued and much needed; has a secret ability; is a long lost 'heir'/noble figure; etc. But, the shit still entertains me and I love seeing how other people find creative ways to tell that story.Upon the day of departure however, the Lionguard appear (two weeks earlier than expected: they were intended to be Gretchen's escort to her wedding), called for by Vincent. When Huth tries to resist the group, he is killed by Captain Brutus ' silver sword. When Brutus advances on Drew however, the boy takes Gretchen hostage and escapes by the Redwine river with Hector. Elite Mooks: The Lionguard, especially the Bastians, who are considered far more experienced and combat ready than their Lyssian counterparts. I didn't expect half things to happen, and it is just regretful that so many things have gone wrong. And by that i mean that you expect something to finally go right, and boooooom, you have a huge plot twist which make you gasp! My favorite character in Rise of the wolf was Gretchen; I experience every emotion possible towards her, from irritation and anger to downright hate then to sympathy and worship, Gretchen is officially an awesome character. Her witty jokes definitely lighten the mood of the novel.
