The bees help to create a sticky situation and all the flying bugs help to deliver the wicked master right to the rubbage pile.In this delightful story he saves a toad who has hopped onto the road, helps the bees stop feeling bored and saves a beetle that falls down a well. He realises Superworm could be a brilliant way to find buried treasure so he sends his henchman, the Crow, to kidnap Superworm.

He’s a really self-indulgent baddie, which gives me joy, and it offers ample opportunity to be playful with the voice. All the animals in the village get together and come up with a plan to capture the lizard, once caught the creatures fly him and put him In the rubbish dump. It seems there’s no end to Superworm’s skills but he begins to get a bit too full of himself and he starts to ignore his friend. There's a charm, there's a wit, and there's a lightness of touch and hopefulness that fits really well into Christmas Day. The Lizard has him trying to find treasure but in the meantime his friends hatch a cunning plan to rescue him.

A neat way to see how worms tunnel through the ground and the important role they play in our environment. One of my television songs, A SQUASH AND A SQUEEZE, was made into a book in 1993, with illustrations by the wonderful Axel Scheffler.

He moved to England in 1982 to study illustration at the Bath Academy of Art, and then set up home in London.
