About this deal

I was completely hooked from the start. The writing was so easy to read, it was very straight forward. After reading Nocticadia, the simplicity was exactly what I needed. Following a devastating injury that has left him sidelined and stripped of his beloved number 13 jersey, Johnny is struggling to hold onto his dreams. Lost, insecure, and desperately seeking comfort, he sets his sights on unraveling the mystery of the girl with the midnight-blue eyes. With his best friend, Gibsie, by his side, Johnny embarks on his quest of exposing the secrets surrounding the girl who haunts his every waking hour. Slow-burn romances can only work if things that take place outside of the actual romance, are as interesting as the romance. And everything about this book was interesting.

From a small child, I had adored the ground he walked on; trailing after him and his friends, tagging along with him wherever he went. He always protected me, taking the blame at home when I did something wrong. Him being indecisive about whether he wanted to pursue a relationship with Shannon was so valid. The reservations he’s kept and been reiterating in his head for years, about how his profession isn’t gonna leave any room for a relationship, that can’t just be broken down within seconds. It’s frustrating to read about sure but I understand the reason behind it. Joey and I had an older brother, Darren, and three younger brothers: Tadhg, Ollie, and Sean, but neither of us had spoken to Darren since he walked out of the house five years previous, following yet another infamous blow out with our father. Tadhg and Ollie, who were eleven and nine, were only in primary school, and Sean, who was three, was barely out of nappies so I wasn’t exactly flush with protectors to call on. Joey 😭😭 my heart goes out to him. This guy deserves to have everything in every universe. He’s the best brother. Him leaving Shannon there bc he couldn’t take it anymore killed me even tho I’m glad he put himself first (╥_╥) I'd been so desperate to get away from the bullies that I'd even begged Mam to send me to Beara to live with her sister, Aunty Alice, and her family so I could finish my studies. The relationship. It's hard reading a romance book when you can’t even understand why main characters fell in love. It might be that they were basically kids and it's probably normal this age? But seriously, they haven't even had that many deep conversations. I SWEAR TO GOD, THAT MAN HAS A LONER SAD GIRL KINK. Every time he had to describe her, he would mention how she was lonesome, fragile, uncertain - like yeah, makes you believe he absolutely loves the girl, doesn't it? 🙃 It was probably the most basic, typical and predictable wattpad type of story, but I finish it in two days. I have to give a shout-out to Johnny’s D. That poor thing can’t help but wanna salute Shannon every time’s she’s near . It’d all be good and dandy if Johnny wasn’t in so much pain because of his groin injury 😅😬. It’s RARE for me to feel bad for a character, let alone a “member”, but man… I felt so bad 🤣 I loved Shannon initially. I still do ngl. Mostly. Kinda. As someone who has also experienced bullying in school, Shannon's fear and anxiety related to even the littlest of things was so relatable and I was looking forward to see her journey through that. But there really wasn't any character development and it was disappointing- more so, because maybe I've been there too.

They are all with their own character’s trait, flaws and quirkiness. They are fleshed out perfectly and you really can imagine them! Gibsie the best friend with his own brand of crazy. Manwhore with a golden heart. Johnny the boy I would love to have falling in love with my daughter as he is just perfect. Shannon small, gorgeous, selfless, shy, terrorized a survivor. Claire-Bear big blond beautiful bubbly and solar. Shannon’s best friend. Lizzie with all her snark and anger. Joey big bro with a huge heart. So generous that he is drowning. I would have loved to have a big brother so protective and dedicated. Edel and John, Johnny’s parents. Just rich, gorgeous and generous. Loving and protective. Everyone wants parents like these ones! this book is long af but it didn’t feel long. if books are like this, you know it’s really freakin good and it is.And I was nervous – so nervous, in fact, that I had thrown up no less than three times this morning. Keeping secrets has never been a problem for Shannon. The life she was born into demands nothing less. She knows that demons and evil men don’t just exist in fairytales. They exist in her world, too. Traumatized beyond repair after her return from Dublin, and desperate to protect her little brothers, Shannon finds herself falling into the same old cover-up, barely keeping her head above water, as her future unravels before her eyes. Beaten and broken, her walls are up and her trust is shaken. Only one boy has the ability to climb those walls. The boy who owns her heart.

His parents bought him a car for his birthday last week," she explained. "He wants all of us to go for a spin with him." I was petrified when I was at school and couldn’t bear to eat a thing because when I did vomit, and it was a frequent event, it was a direct response to the unbearable weight of the stress I was under. I was also small for my age; short, undeveloped, and skinny, which didn’t help my cause to ward off the rumors. Now that all is in the open let’s get into the nitty gritty: what are the books about and why I loved it so much. This book is loaded with a bunch of awesome side characters. From parents to best friends to bitchy mean girls, they’re all so real. Aside from the H’s mom whom I admired and loved so much, the H’s best friend is my absolute favorite! Him and his stupid jokes were the reasons this book didn’t feel so gloom and doom.
