About this deal

Como fanática enfermita de la primera película, recuerdo los dialogos y expresiones a la perfección, así que no noté variaciones entre el texto y la película. Hocus Pocus book is just stunning and colourful illustration style mixed of goth Edward Gorey, Tim Burton and characters in expressionism in both dark and light world. The written format often allows for such things more easily than the visual, and it would not have been hard to push things a bit without overly impacting the established plot. I love Hocus Pocus, so of course I had to get my hands on this illustrated edition as a special treat to myself this spooky season.

For the first time ever, fans and readers of all ages can enjoy the full story of the immensely popular Hocus Pocus with this deluxe Illustrated Novelization that will show fans the likes of Max Dennison, the Sanderson Sisters, Binx the cat, and other iconic characters as only celebrated, renowned artist Gris Grimly can: in all of their darkly humorous, unique gruesome glory! It just isn't anything new or improved, and I don't think that reading it added any value to my day!But this book did leave me sitting on the fence a little bit, which is why I have gone down the middle and awarded 3 stars. There are some illustrations which are a two page spread, or taking up the whole of one page, but then some which are just half a page.

Emily's older brother, Thackery rushes into the witch cottage in a futile attempt to save her, but the cackling witches turn him into an immortal black cat, cursed to live forever with the guilt of not saving his sister. Llegó en muy buenas condiciones y el libro está muy padre, muy buenas ilustraciones, para los que son fans es una exelente compra. The drawing is superb, and equally first-rate are the watercolors Grimly used to color the drawings. Honestly, I spent almost the entirety replaying the movie line by line as I was reading the words of the book. GRIS GRIMLY is an award-winning illustrator best known for his “macabre” yet humorous books for children and young adults. When he has an opportunity to impress his gorgeous classmate Allison by visiting an old house where a trio of alleged witches once lived, Max jumps at the chance to prove he doesn't believe in the town's superstitions.

Although I am not a raving fan of the film, Hocus Pocus (that accolade would have to go to Labyrinth), when I saw this illustrated version by Gris Grimly, I thought it would be the perfect read leading up to Halloween. There were a few (very small) newly-added bits that I wanted to read more about, but they weren’t the focus and didn’t get the time they deserved. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. You probably need to have seen the movie at least once to follow the story well, but if you’ve seen the movie enough times, you’ll realize this is essentially a screenplay fluffed into a novel (hence “novelization”).For the first time ever, fans and readers of all ages can enjoy the full story of the immensely popular Hocus Pocus with this deluxe illustrated novelization that shows fans the likes of Max Dennison, the Sanderson Sisters, Binx the cat and other iconic characters as only celebrated, renowned artist Gris Grimly can: in all of their darkly humorous, unique gruesome glory! They consult their evil spellbook, and concoct a potion in a boiling cauldron - add oil to make it boil, mix in blood of owl and an herb that's red, a dash of pox and a dead man's toe - the potion allows the evil witches to steal Emily's life force, making them young while Emily perishes. Even though I knew what was going to happen, I was still drawn into the story because of the great writing and word choice.

A teen boy (with an annoying little sister) who recently moved to Salem, Massachusetts, from Southern California and doesn't believe in witches (but has a crush on a local girl who does), sets some particularly nasty witches loose on the town and has to work with crush girl, annoying sister, and a talking cat try to fix his macho boy mistake.I also adored the illustrations and the book is absolutely beautiful if you take off the dusk jacket.
