About this deal

As things start to heat up in the investigation, each of them will have a part to play in finding the missing women.

While there is still a lot about the continuing characters of Evie and Cyrus himself, this book focuses much on the story around Cyrus’s older brother who has been in a secure psychiatric prison for almost 20 years for the brutal murder of his family and has started the process of being released for short periods of time into society. Although this book is part of a series, it stands alone very well but I now very much want to go back to the beginning and read the others. Elias and Cyrus are brothers, but a shattering event over twenty years ago left a massive chasm between them.

I am sure you could read this book as a stand alone but if you read the two previous books first it is just so much better! Then a second woman goes missing who is also a neo-natal nurse, and Cyrus and Evie start to spot connections that the police seem to have missed. The story is told first hand from both Cyrus’s and Evie’s POV rapidly building the pace and tension. The novel starts powerfully as Cyrus reflects on his brother Elias' killing of their family as Rampton Secure Hospital reviews the possibility of his release.

I loved this book and just wish I’d known it was part of a series, as reading the previous books would have helped me to understand more about Cyrus and Evie’s relationship, and particularly Evie’s traumatic background. It’s a harrowing story involving revenge murders, corruption and a heart-stopping race to find abducted women. Only two people survived the carnage - Elias, who was sent to Rampton, and his thirteen-year-old brother, Cyrus, who hid in a shed until the police found him. He was eventually diagnosed with schizophrenia and was sent to Rampton (a secure psychiatric hospital) where he has been for 20 years.

It could possibly be read as a standalone, but I always recommend reading series from the start to get the full back story and feel for the characters, plus this is a great series!

Briefly, Cyrus is a Forensic Psychologist and the story opens with him attending a parole hearing for his brother Elias.A fantastic conclusion that ties up the loose ends of the complex storyline if not the solution to the happiness of these much loved characters . I fell in love with Cyrus Haven and Evie Cormac in the first book Good Girl, Bad Girl and my love for them grew in the second book When She was Good, so I could not wait to reunite with them.
