John Kappelman; Richard A. Ketcham; Stephen Pearce; Lawrence Todd; Wiley Akins; Matthew W. Colbert; Mulugeta Feseha; Jessica A. Maisano; Adrienne Witzel (2016). M. opponens digiti quinti: This muscle lies deep compared to the abductor and flexor of the 5th digit. It insert along the entire length of the 5th metacarpal bone ( Figure 35).

M. obliquus abdominis externus: The muscle has tendinous origins on the 4th to the 12th rib, where it interdigitates with the serratus ventralis muscle. In addition, muscle fibers originate dorsally from the lumbodorsal fascia in the lumbar region. The fibers run caudoventrally towards the linea alba onto which it attaches by means of an aponeurosis ( Figures 29, 36, and 37). Mega-sized: the world’s largest monkeys can reach significant sizes. For example, male mandrills have reached 119 pounds in size! Lucy's Legacy: The Hidden Treasures of Ethiopia". Houston Museum of Natural Science. 2009. Archived from the original on June 5, 2009 . Farmers and loggers can damage a species of monkey’s ecosystem, even when humans clear out a small area. The clearing of trees for crops or lumber can disrupt the ways in which the monkey searches for food for example. In addition, some regions allow monkeys to be hunted for food or captured for sale as pets. Reproduction, babies, and lifespan quarti: From the lateral humeral epicondyle to proximal phalanx of the 4th digit ( Figures 32 and 34). Mm. lumbricales manus: These muscles, which are 4 in number, are very well developed. They arise from the medial side of the deep flexor tendons to digits II – V. They are inserted into the base of the proximal phalanx and the metacarpophalangeal joints ( Figure 35). Ruff, Christopher B.; Burgess, M. Loring; Ketcham, Richard A.; Kappelman, John (2016). Sprint west through the grass with Protect from Missiles on. Continue west (south of the buildings) in the grass until you reach the doorway to your north, marked on the map image above. Walk through the door to enter an enclosed area with a sleeping monkey guard, a banana crate, and a dentures crate.

Monkey Conservation Status

Monkeys at risk: out of over 250 species, only one type of monkey was listed as being of “least concern” for extinction! M. longus colli: This muscle lies deep against the ventral sides of all cervical and the first four thoracic vertebrae, dorsal to the trachea. The short muscle fibers interconnect the subsequent vertebrae ( Figure 27).

Apes tend to be flat footed (have plantigrade feet). Human have arched feet, supported by ligaments on the underside of the foot. These prevent the arch from collapsing and act like springs, which are stretched, thus storing energy, when the foot comes down. This helps to catapult the body upwards again. Apes have prehensile (grasping) feet with a sideways facing big toe. Humans have a forward facing big toe to provide extra final thrust when walking. The phalanges (toe bones) are curved in apes to aid grasping. University of Texas at Austin Office of Public Affairs (February 6, 2009). Taken together, the findings suggest the Maya gave the monkey to Teotihuacán as a gift during a period of friendly relations about which scientists know very little. Researchers compared the exchange to a more modern example of animals as diplomatic tools: China’s gifting of pandas Ling-Ling and Hsing-Hsing to the United States in 1972.M. scalenus medius (m. scalenus longus): The origin is on the 3rd to 5th rib. The insertion is on the transverse process of the 4th cervical vertebra ( Figure 30). Karam seems to be a reference to Kalam Mekhar (a character from Steven Erikson's Malazan book of the fallen) and the 10th squad in general could be a reference to the Bridgeburners 9th squad from the same series. In between both muscles, the m. cleidomastoideus can be seen. It runs from the medial side of the clavicle to the mastoid process ( Figure 27).
