About this deal

BETRAYAL is the second book of Martina’s I have read (I read THE TAKE early last year) and I cannot wait to devour more of her titles. If I have to pick fault it was the repetitiveness of certain words which I found slightly irritating but it did not take too much enjoyment away from the story. In my review of ‘Get Even’, I said that you might still enjoy it if it was your first Martina Cole book but I think even then, you would be disappointed with ‘Betrayal’.

Martina Cole About - Martina Cole

Whilst I think the later stories have something less than her original books I still think many Cole's fans will enjoy this offering. There is a lot of violent scenes though so this book won't be for you if you have a weak stomach for stuff like that.Apparently her family came from Ireland and lived on a tough council housing estate in Grays near London which provides inspiration for her novels. In mitigation, however, this is perhaps the sort of language used by low life within the criminal community, of which Martina has a personal knowledge. She falls in love with one of Aiden's criminal associates, and what's worse, becomes pregnant by him. The characters were excellently portrayed and the story developed at a decent pace and kept you reaching for the book again and again to see how it would all tie together in the end. During his stay in the prison, he had made many connections with the people of the underworld and now he has started thinking that he owns the criminal underworld.

Loyalty By Martina Cole | New | 9781472249456 | World of Books

His daughter and wife become a constant headache and Michael soon learns that his not as invincible as he thinks. And also some of her novels take place within the community of the Irishmen situated in and around the city of London. Aside from that, the plot was tired - it has been done to death, and Cole has brought nothing new to the table.you can say that this is a good book–if mafia stories written on wattpad by 11-year-olds are your standard. As Cole continues to remind us of the family’s rules on privacy and secrecy, this is something which feels voyeuristic, almost like peering into the personal spaces of the royal family. As with all Martina’s books there is lots of gangland violence and the subject matter requires you to have a strong stomach. In the same year, an investigative documentary was made whose title had her named mentioned and featured the female protagonists of her novels.

Loyalty - Martina Cole - Google Books

I’ve been a Martina Cole fan since her very first book and was really looking forward to reading this much delayed book. Discussed sensitively the abuse that many children and adults endured from those who were supposed to care/love them. Mother to his son, calmer of his temper and rage and a force in her own right, Jade knows the truth. The house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the income of the wicked brings them trouble'. All the characters, whether you loved or hated them were superbly drawn and I found myself drawn into their lives and waiting to see how all the chips would fall.Set over a period of 30 Years its gritty, violent and fast paced, I enjoyed everything about this book. This might also be because I think that Declan, one of the characters that seems to be Michael's right hand man, is behind the revenge.
