Cute two tear drops for ears, one long thing piece of paper for the tail (curl with scissors) and two shorter thin strips of paper for whiskers. Finger puppets can also be used to role play different social situations with children to help them learn, process feelings, and communicate their thoughts. My intention was to make a mouse finger puppet craft, but I loved the flatter versions that two of the kids made on their own accord. Either mouse craft would be a great option — the mouse finger puppet would be a good challenge for children developing their fine motor skills. Cut out the quarters – each one will make one mouse. Keep the off course for the paper mice details! The third child waited and I showed her how to make the mouse finger puppet craft that I remembered from my childhood. Make the finger holes by wrapping paper around each finger to find the size of the fingers (your child’s finger or yours).

Glue them to a fourth of a toilet paper tube or wrap them around a wine cork to make them moveable paper toys. I used a Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutter, with their concentric circle thinlit dies… simply because I “could”.. but you can of course use anything to trace your own circle mice.. OR make use of our handy printable and worksheets! Really a question of what resources you have available to you. Also.. as this paper craft uses circles only.. it is a fantastic simple “steam” activity for preschoolers, learning about shapes! Circle Mouse Finger Puppet Materials –

Trace and cut a circle approximately 17cm in diamter. Having said that, with smaller hands you may want to make these a bit smaller too. Experiment! Colour in the tear drop ears for the mouse, add glue to the bottom and glue half way along the cone. I laid out these materials for the kids and immediately two of them laid out the supplies on the heart shape to make mice faces. I loved their interpretation and helped them use the felt glue to attach the facial features. I was worried that this mouse craft wouldn’t be open-ended enough, but the kids surprised me by coming up with their own interpretations using the prepared materials before I could even show them how to assemble the intended mouse craft.

During our Cinderella Unit Study we did a couple of crafts, but my favourite has to be this mouse craft that I initially was a bit hesitant about. The wolf will huff and puff and blow the houses down. Which version of the Three Little Pigs will you tell? Printable templates of each fairy finger puppet can be used to play and create!
