This was necessary to help accommodate the added heat and power demands of the 3D V-Cache, and it results in the Ryzen 7 7800X3D being one of the more energy-efficient options we’ve tested. As you will see throughout this review, there's no such issue with the 7800X3D, as all its CPU cores are localized to a single CCD with 96 MB of L3 cache.

In contrast, the multi-chiplet 7950X3D and 7900X3D have lower power thresholds than their equivalents because the additional cache chiplet results in slightly higher operating temperatures that need to be kept within a safe range.When it comes to actual performance, there are few chips that are going to match the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D's gaming performance, though it is more easily eclipsed elsewhere.

It displayed a rather humdrum showing overall relative to other recent Ryzen 7 processors like the Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 7 7700, as well as the Intel Core i5-13600K.AMD's chipset driver manages which cores are best suited for specific tasks so games that benefit from V-Cache, for instance, get put on V-Cache cores while other apps would get thrown onto the full frequency cores.
