The author did a good job in making this story work around that theme, but they also made sure to retain their own voice within the writing and the plot itself. I liked that it was a female protagonist's viewpoint that we got to experience. Rachel Greenlaw is the author of ONE CHRISTMAS MORNING, WITH THE FROST and the COMPASS AND BLADE trilogy. She lives on an island in the middle of the Atlantic, where you'll find her wandering the white sand beaches, searching for cowrie shells and writing her next story.

One Christmas Morning by Rachel Greenlaw is a Holiday and Romance Fiction Story with Magical Realism! The concept of living different lives through time loops is compelling, allowing readers to explore the power of empathy and understanding. Eva's journey of self-discovery is heartfelt and poignant, and the author skillfully explores themes of forgiveness, healing, and the importance of human connections. The narrative effectively balances the magic of the Christmas season with the realistic complexities of relationships and personal growth. I think it was a good idea for a novel, but not well executed. I expect a lot from "Groundhog Day" style books. You're already taking someone else's idea, so you have to deliver on characters and story. This did not. Eva finds herself celebrating the same Christmas Day several different times in several different ways but at the same magnificent Cornwall estate. To explain would be a spoiler, so you'll have to read it and find out for yourself. I appreciate NetGalley for giving me my first taste of the Christmas season this year, Victoria Tate has had enough of her controlling, incompetent husband Warren. But planning the perfect murder is more difficult than she expected. This is a heartwarming tale that is skillfully written from start to finish. The character’s embody everything that one would find believable and heart felt. There were so many things running through my mind about my life growing up and the lessons I learned about work and spending time with others. Learning to be empathetic and compassionate it also captures how our thoughts of Christmas should be. MAGICAL! If you enjoy Groundhog Day kind of stories, this is a good one. While it takes the same trope of a day being repeated while the character makes some changes in their thinking and their choices, it adds a twist in the way the day is repeated. I'll not reveal the twist to you, but I will say that it adds a lovely novelty to a tried-and-tested formula. With the help of a handsome stranger, Mira will have to travel across the Fortunate Isles in search of a way to buy her father’s freedom. But to survive the journey she will need to learn who to trust – as securing her own future, and that of her island, will come at a high price. Haunting, magical and sparkling with Christmas spirit, One Christmas Morning is a festive love story with a difference. A clever and cathartic novel about healing, grief, facing up to ourselves and letting go, it tugged on my heartstrings and took me through every emotion possible.
