About this deal

This book contains a wealth of practical information for the person interested in, planning to engage in, or actively engaged in the ministry of deliverance. As this world gets crazier and more evil, my prayer is that we tap into, that we fully embrace, all that Jesus has given us to fight, to endure, to stand firm, and to be a warrior that He can send out for battle. I pray you reflect on His Word and His promises and how it can be lived out through you and your circumstances. Through all that I’ve learned from books like Pigs in the Parlor, friends like Jeannette, and other resources throughout this season, my faith and confidence in Him has grown exponentially. I’ve been stretched in more ways than I ever could imagine, yet I’m truly thankful and actually do consider it all joy. I’m so grateful too, that my kids were able to see this at a young age so that they can be better equipped for the battles that lie ahead for them — and as we know, there will be many. The Holy Spirit, the divine Agent who makes us children of God, does not share the temple of our bodies with demons. Moreover, as the above passage makes clear, the believer is commanded to “put to death the deeds of the body,” an idea hardly consistent with demons making Christians act in unseemly ways. In Christ we have been given the spiritual resources we need for sanctification. I have read some other stuff on deliverance and am still studying it gradually – all be it in a slightly wary way. There does seem to be some variation in details of the ‘how to do it’ and when and why you do it – oh yes and where to do – it if a place seems to need deliverance rather than a person. Yes, if you’ve heard those old stories of haunted places needing a visit by a priest to clear out a ghost or similar creepy spiritual problem it seems some people are still practising this kind of deliverance – usually calling it exorcism – from what I can gather.

Paul said” Let us clean ourselves”. God will not do the cleansing for us. We are responsible to do it ourselves. If an unlicensed person set themselves up and described themselves as a Psychiatrist or a Surgeon, would you go to them for treatment or an operation ? Questions and answers on healing and Demon Possession’. I was both surprised and very pleased that Lloyd Jones, a Reformed preacher, was not dismissive of these things. As a qualified Doctor, he ended up getting lots of cases referred to him which turned out to be demonic. Again, he is careful to distinguish between medical and demonic problems. Reply Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!”* [26] The evil spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.* Seriously, folks, go get your Bible and just read it instead of wasting your money on something like this. Plain and simply, it’s a false teaching you should avoid like the plague. It broke down all of the fake belief systems and church cliches and gave me real doctrine and scripture to explain deliverance and poke holes in my assumptions. I believed deliverance was something you were forced into and somebody lays you out and demons come out but - NOT SO!!!! So much more goes into it and this book gave me the tools I need in 2019 and this was first written in 1970s like whaaa!?!?! The title, Pigs in the Parlor, was referring to Mark 5 in the Bible. It was the story of the demon-possessed man by the tombs who was tormented day and night, crying out and cutting himself. When he saw Jesus, he ran to Him for help. The demons, known as Legion, cried out in fear and asked Jesus to send them into the herd of pigs, rather than to be run out of the area. Mark 5:13 says, “Jesus gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.” Frank Davis Hammond (Oct. 12, 1921 - March 17, 2005) was an author of Christian related books, particularly on deliverance ministry. In 1980 Hammond founded 'The Children's Bread Ministry' with his wife (and sometimes coauthor) Ida Mae Hammond. Hammond was an alumnus of Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Hammond implies that most demons enter a person before birth or during infancy (117). Most adopted children “will have spirits of rejection” (118). A child’s stuffed toy frog had to go because it could attract demons (142). (Sorry, Kermit!)

The doctrine that Christians are no longer subject to demonic activity can lead to one or the other of two unfortunate results. Either a believer may yield to demonic pressures with some comment like ‘ I can’t help myself; that’ just the way I am”. Or he may seek to suppress the pressures within, and in so doing expend much spiritual energy that could have been used for more positive purposes. Oh don’t worry the book weaves in about how lust, masturbation, homosexuality, etc. are all terrible. They talks about how other cults are bad like Jehovah witnesses and Christian science and “others.” It also brings up the occult like Ouija boards, handwriting analysis, astrology, witchcraft, it really just is a stereotype filled book. Literally has a section about false religions and then naming every religion that isn’t their own. A book written by bigots for bigots. This book was so serious and so insightful. It's one of those books you keep on file and pull out for a refresher every so often. Debunked so many myths about demons and deliverance and pretty much spelled it out and how to become a practicing minister of deliverance and explain it on a practical and spiritual level. My eyes were definitely opened and my understanding deepened as well.Jesus taught us to love our enemies. It heaps coals of fire upon their heads. That is, it purifies their minds.” These people sound scary, almost as scary as an autonomous woman or gay immigrant. Amiright (dadumtiss) Would you trust self-appointed exorcists or healers to baptise you, to marry you ? With exorcism, they take advantage of the stress of the situation . First book I had ever read that gave me clarity about what we are waging for and against. A tad edgy and certainly uncomfortable the first read but two or three times around new revelations came to pass in my seriously logical A type personality processor So what else is there? Well helpfully and interestingly there are chapters on ‘Seven ways to determine the Need for Deliverance’ ; ‘Seven Steps to Deliverance’ and ‘spiritual warfare’ is discussed in various ways.

A shame to hear how some believe it’s based in fact. When literally there are passages about how to interpret dreams and how these authors are literally making money off of your incompetence. “Demon of pain, come out of Fred!” -Is literally in the book. This month brings my most unsettling book to write about so far. I feel quite hesitant about it, but as the authors claim it is Biblically trustworthy stuff that teaches how to bring healing – through deliverance in Jesus name – to people in bondage to various kinds of problems, I guess it’s worth a post. The deliverance of a 3 month old baby who suffered from 'tormenting spirits' which found a doorway when his parents were arguing over how to discipline him...I mean, I don't have kids myself but do you discipline 3 month old babies? are they not still nothing more than yodeling potatoes at that point? what can a 3 month old do that requires disciplining? Anyway these tormenting spirits caused the baby to cry incessantly until he was held by the authors wife who delivered him from these demons

Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. He once expelled demons from a childs mobile which had pictures of a frog and some owls on it (demons quite like frogs and owls apparently) The question is, with all the advances in medical and psychological sciences, should the Christian church still be teaching Jesus followers to do the same thing? Do demons exist? Is what we read in the New Testament simply an ancient uneducated way of seeing the world, which we have overcome by medical and other advances that have been made since Biblical times? Overall this book does end up giving rather a different sheen on the Christian faith to your average Church of England experience of preaching and teaching.

I learned so much about demons and deliverance and not to fear them. I learned about how to minister to different kinds of people, groupings of demons, ample scripture support, and deliverance tips, etc. Great read for anyone desiring to learn about demons and how to be delivered from them who believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, the Son of God. I wish I could say that I have experienced all the mighty miracles that He did when He was on earth, but I can’t. Just like you, I am a work in progress; growing stronger in the grace, knowledge and power of Jesus Christ, going from glory to glory. Wherever you are in your journey, be hopeful, not discouraged. He desires for us to know who we are in Him, His power that is there for the taking — never in condemnation, only out of love for us. Receive it, grow in it, be ready to have Him take you to places you never thought possible. No matter what, as I’ve learned with Him, the journey is all worth it. Jesus gave a legion of demons permission… Demons knew who Jesus was, they knew His power and knew that they didn’t have a fighting chance against Him no matter how many there were. They knew He had authority over them and that they had to ask Him for permission to come and go. As I continued reading this book, I pondered on some things. Jesus said that He must go to be with the Father and that He would give us the Holy Spirit who would never leave us. (John 14:16) The Holy Spirit, our Helper, is to guide us into all truth (John 16:13) and with Him, we will do even greater things than Jesus did when He was on this earth (John 14:12.) Jesus gave the disciples the authority to cast out demons. When He sent them out two by two, (Mark 3:15) He gave them the power to tread on serpents and over all power of the enemy. (Luke 10:19) What did this mean? Did this actually pertain to me? If Jesus has authority over the demons and all the power of the enemy, and He says that He has given me that same authority, then wouldn’t that mean that I have the power to cast out demons, to have power over the enemy, to do the things He did? At the same time I thought, “When would I ever even have to do something like that anyway?” Little did I know what lay ahead…So it’s about commanding Spirits to come out of people or yourself using Jesus authority. If sin has been involved then the person concerned also needs to repent of sins first and renounce any behaviour linked – before the deliverance is tried. (And of course committment to Jesus needs to be if necessary reiterated.) Here is the clear example of how Christians, who have been born again and received Holy Spirit, can be tempted into receiving a false spirit - a demon. I don't know what a logical A type personality processor is, it's probably not something that thinks too much. Imagine what her life must have been like before she found clarity in medieval mumbo-jumbo.
