Being new to hard liquors (over 30% ABV), I didn’t appreciate these drinks like I did wines. I did put a drop or 2 of water to see if that helped to open up the flavors, but I remember my palate was numbed by then. I’ve since learned to appreciate them. The Yamazaki whisky library has many bottles that will make you drool. If you want to do the Yamazaki distillery tour, you’ll need to plan well in advance. Spots are very hard to get.

Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. Final Thoughts: This is an incredible whisky and tt completely blows the 12 out of the water. Upon tasting them side by side, the 12 year version is much more tropical, bright and refreshing while the Yamazaki 18 is a much darker, brooding type of whisky that shows off a completely different side of Suntory. It still maintains a lot of what makes Japanese whisky great, a clean, fruit-filled, balanced spirit, but just takes to a much deeper level. More chocolate, more stewed fruits and more layers to unravel.
