The speakers inside the G3 15 Gaming are pretty decent and were loud enough to encompass a medium-size conference room with Jon Bellion's "Maybe IDK." My ears went on a journey as the dreamy acoustic guitar and Bellion's crisp vocals weaved together harmoniously. However, there wasn't enough bass to make the chorus sound lively, and other instruments weren't as well represented as the vocals were. The Dell G3 has a 1TB HDD and 256 GB of M.2 NVMe SSD storage. The Dell G5, however, doesn’t have an HDD storage drive. Cinebench stresses the CPU rather than the GPU to render a complex image. The result is a proprietary score indicating a PC's suitability for processor-intensive workloads. Grand Theft Auto V ran at 33 fps on very high and 1080p on the G3 15, which is smoother than the 7REX's 31 fps but far off from the 48-fps entry-level-gaming-laptop average. It was unplayable on the TUF at 24 fps.The Dell G3 houses 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processors, while the Dell G5 houses AMD Ryzen 7 processors. Instead of the usual trend of LED patterns, stripes, and large cooling grills, Dell opted for a moderate design. In fact, the Dell G3 15 3579 is a bit too modest for a modern gaming laptop. The strongest aspect of the Dell G3 3590 is its serviceability. Unlike the HP Pavilion Gaming 15 or the MSI GP65, the Dell system is easier to upgrade and it doesn't require tearing any warranty seals. Performance is where we expect it to be considering the hardware and the low price of entry makes the system attractive to users who want a decently powerful no frills gaming machine.

The plastic chassis, treble-heavy speakers, slow SD reader, 1x1 WLAN, and budget NVMe SSD are common on budget gaming laptops. While I was getting ambushed by several orcs, my arrow swiftly pierced through the air to hit an explosive barrel. Even though it was incredibly satisfying to hear the world go silent and then suddenly explode, there could have been more depth to the sound. Dell G3 15 gaming graphics and VR The G3 15 averaged 152fps on the lowest preset, and 114fps on the maximum preset (both manually tuned to 100 percent render resolution), making a clear case for the 120Hz screen. Games in that genre will look smoother, and give you a competitive advantage as your screen updates more frequently. Battery Rundown Test In conclusion, this laptop’s design is too modest in comparison with other gaming laptops. Its overall design doesn’t leave much to be desired aside from its rigidity. If you can get past the budget design and shoddy display, the Dell G3 is probably the greatest bargain in the gaming laptop space.

Despite having a great score of 6509K for Visual Colour Temperature, the Dell G3’s display still looks rather warm when compared to other laptops. This isn’t helped by the dismal colour range, with just 51.8% of sRGB colour gamut. The Dell G3 is just not designed for image or video editing, being unable to reproduce colours accurately enough to be a worthwhile asset for such creative work. On our HandBrake test, the G3 15 took 13 minutes and 16 seconds to transcode a 4K video to 1080p. It beat the 14:37 category average and 7REX's 14:11 but got shown up by the TUF's 11:15.
