About this deal

The fact you mention it isn’t quiet enough in a noisy environment is hopefully blatantly obvious to the open ear music enthusiast. That's partly to do with the materials used and the weighting and positioning of the various components, but it's also got to do with where the speakers themselves sit on your head.

That issue aside, the AfterShokz Titanium appears to have been carefully crafted, with the positioning of the transducers spot-on; they sat exactly at the top of our jawbone. A common usage of open-ear headphones is for workouts such as running or cycling, where you might want to be aware of your ambient surroundings.

At just six hours charge, the AfterShokz Titanium is immediately relegated from a pair of do-it-all headphones to a product that really should be thought of as single-activity, and that’s a shame.

The loud environment competed with my music from my ear’s attention, resulting in a disruptive experience. However, when things get loud or you have to venture outside, the AfterShokz Titanium suffer from a lack of volume and too many vibrations. While it doesn't offer a big upgrade in sound over the Trekz Titanium, it does sound better and is significantly more comfortable to wear (bikers can wear it with a helmet without a problem). Controlling the AfterShokz Titanium is also a cinch, with one of the component boxes on the headband hosting volume buttons, one of which doubles as a long-press on/off switch. They may offer the best of times, the worst of times, but the AfterShokz Titanium do sound perfectly acceptable most of the time. As a result, OpenMove was created with familiar features reminiscent of Titanium and a few additions that make a fair case for an upgrade.

Introducing Trekz Air | AfterShokz

Shokz headphones have fallen a little short of those claimed battery lives in the past, but they seem to fair a lot better and more reliably on the OpenRun. By avoiding your ears, the Trekz Air don't do that at all, while still delivering decent sound quality. This is a welcome change from older headsets’ micro-USB charging, as it means you don’t need to carry separate cables for your phone and headset. But there are plenty of situations where I wouldn’t want to be using it like on a noisy transit, running beside a noisy road, etc. If you want bone conduction headphones for running and swimming, then check out the OpenSwim from Shokz.

These are connected by a thin band that hooks over your ears and curves around the back of your head. However, we cannot guarantee that the color of your replacement will match the color of your original headset. If you’re using tailor’s measuring tape, align the left side of the measuring tape behind your left ear in the same way. It's a very likable sports headphone, particularly for people who want a secure fitting headphone that doesn't cover or prod their ears. You flipped open the magnetic latch off the hard-case box and it reveals the bone conduction headphones.
