About this deal

Leicester University‘s MMI interviews will take place in person for 2024 entry (aside from international students) and you can find out more here. What would you do if a patient with an STI was refusing to tell their partner about their STI and plans to continue to have sex with this partner?

Keele University shortlists interview candidates who meet academic requirements based on their UCAT score and UCAS Personal Statement. Maybe even record yourself and watch it back, this is a great way to see first hand if you are coming across natural in your multiple mini interview answers. Aside from ethical principles, common MMI questions can also delve into your understanding of medical procedures that involve ethical debate, such as abortions, euthanasia or prescription cannabis.

A good way to do this in multiple mini interview preparation is to list out your various achievements and roles and then focus on specific soft-skills you’ve gleaned from them, examples of when you put them to use and how they might be useful in a career in medicine. To shortlist for interview, Hull York Medical School scores candidates based on GCSEs (up to 30 points), UCAT (up to 40 points), UCAT SJT band (up to 15 points) and contextual data (up to 15 points). Involving faculty members for the same is a challenge in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) due to their clinical commitments. Buckingham University shortlists applicants based on academic achievements (no BMAT or UCAT required) and then uses a computer-based exam to test suitability for being a Doctor.

If the question asks you to discuss 3 skills, then don’t spend most of your time discussing your first skill, leaving little to no time on the other two.

Motivation for Medicine’ stations aim to explore your key reasons for choosing to study medicine or dentistry. A good way to communicate this during your MMI, is to focus on possible issues you noticed in the healthcare space and how they’ve inspired you to want to create change. You won’t be penalised for using the same example because it is a different examiner at each station. Why do you want to be a doctor, rather than another profession that is caring or intellectually challenging?
