He adds: "That film in two hours 30 minutes, encapsulated what had been then, six years of our life. Absent two elements - I'd never been shot at, when I was with her and I never made love to her. You take those two elements out and it really becomes a boring two and a half hours." Read More Related Articles Pedersen, Erik (18 January 2019). The six-part series centres around the fictional character of Police Sergeant David Budd ( Richard Madden), a British Army war veteran suffering from PTSD, who is now working for the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch of London's Metropolitan Police Service. He is assigned as the principal protection officer (PPO) for the ambitious Home Secretary Julia Montague ( Keeley Hawes), whose politics he despises. The series draws attention to controversial issues such as government monitoring of private information and its regulation, the politics of intervention and terrorism, and PTSD. [1] BBC journalists including Andrew Marr, John Pienaar, John Humphrys, and Laura Kuenssberg appear as themselves. Apart from the ill-advised interview with the Daily Mirror Rees-Jones never gave Al Fayed what he craved: proof of the alleged engagement, proof of the paparazzi's guilt, let alone confirmation that Diana's last words had embraced his son. It was part of my duty, not just to protect the principal from outside elements, it's to protect them from themselves."

I told his mother how much I admired the way the family had coped - with the press, particularly with the pressure from Mohamed Al Fayed. It was nothing special, she said: "You cope in the only way you can, the only way you know how."Griffiths, Eleanor Bley (3 August 2018). "Meet the cast of Bodyguard on BBC1". Radio Times. London. Frank ensures that his father, who is armed with a large caliber revolver, has secured the rest of the group on the second floor, then pursues the killer into the woods. Frank shoots at the hitman, but the hitman escapes through the dark woods. Frank learns the next day, from his Secret Service colleagues, that they have apprehended the stalker and were interviewing him when Nikki was shot. The film then follows Rachel Marron's life from performance to performance. Each performance features her singing a song (including Houston's hits I Will Always Love You and I Have Nothing) that reflects her emotional state. Frank Farmer successfully protects her from danger. Subsequently, and possibly as a result of his protection and the trust thus inspired, Rachel Marron falls in love with Frank, and, though he tries to keep their relationship professional, they sleep together. However, recognizing that their relationship puts her and her family in danger, he breaks-off the affair and heightens moves to protect her (many such previous moves were shot down by Rachel). Ironically, in an effort to separate Rachel from her own world, Frank introduces Rachel to his own father and personal life. As the story follows a number of potential stalkers, Rachel must put her trust in Frank ahead of her own selfishness and desire for success; as Frank must face the fact that the threat may not be what was expected. In the end, Frank's duty is fulfilled, having successfully protected Rachel, and they part with a kiss. Frank then moves on to his next assignment...to protect an archbishop.

Roberts sent the memo to Houston's team after the singer overdosed on the set of the film, Waiting to Exhale. Despite horrific injury and traumatic surgery, Trevor survived - only to have to fight on as his boss's grief at the loss of his son turned into a desperate hunt for culprit and conspiracy. The Bodyguard's Story is less circumspect in its language than Rees-Jones in the flesh. Unlike many such "co-written" stories, it is not written in the first person. A largely practical decision, he said, because he knows little or nothing about many of the events surrounding the accident. The book pulls no punches when it comes to Mohamed Al Fayed - it's no wonder he tried to get it banned. There have been threatening phone calls. Rees-Jones's only concern is his mother. Trevor Rees-Jones is clearly a man to whom duty and loyalty are paramount. He has no personal feelings about Diana, beyond describing her as "a woman you could take down the pub, and from me, that's a pretty high compliment". He rightly accepts no blame in her death, though he still feels responsible that it happened "on my shift".
