The hospital has a bad reputation around Denmark, but she’s just happy to work in the profession and is nervous as hell. Mind also observes that those with the condition may "depend very heavily on being noticed, or are seeking approval so much that this affects [their] day-to-day living".

Corfixen does an excellent job of creating a sense of tension and drama, making the reader feel like they are right there alongside the investigators as they try to solve the mystery. The Nurse goes on to tell the story of how Pernille was crucial in uncovering Christina's actions, leading to her real-life conviction on four counts of attempted manslaughter.
