This bathroom specific paint is not only useful in a practical sense of preventing mould, it also gives you an elegant finish that’s tough to match with typical mould resistant paints. Preferably use a drill / whisk for at least two minutes. This particular additive comes in a 100ml bottle which is enough to mix with around 5L of paint. And speaking of mixing with paint, you can use this stuff with anything including emulsions, vinyl and if you’re brave enough, silk (sorry silk, but you’re terrible to work with). This of course means you have the freedom to choose your own paint and colour and still get mould resistance. Thermapaint Anti‐Mould will cover most existing matt finish emulsions, but care should be exercised with some eggshell, silk and vinyl finish which are typically resistant to over‐painting. Such surfaces may be “keyed” with a power orbital sander or some may respond to priming with Kingfisher Floor and Wall Sealor Weatherflex Stabilising Solution Care should be taken when sanding any pre‐1960s wood or metal finishes as these may contain harmful lead.

It is best to use mould-resistant paint in rooms where damp and condensation build up, for example in the bathroom or in homes with poor ventilation. Thermapaint Anti-Mould is widely used by private landlords and social housing providers to treat persistent problem areas. It can be applied by roller or brush like any normal emulsion. Mould is more commonly found in homes and rooms where it is damp and mould-resistant paint prevents the moisture from being absorbed.
