It’s a step up from Tommee Tippee's entry-level mini blender, in terms of price, size, and capacity. However, it’s in this latter category that this baby food maker falls a little short. The main unit, which includes the water tank, is so large that the jug capacity for blending and steaming is very much on the small side. As such, it isn’t a machine that's up to the task of batch-cooking, or even cooking more than a couple of portions of food at once. What might suit one parent might not necessarily suit another. But with such a broad range of baby food makers and blenders to choose from, there really is something to suit all lifestyle needs and budgets. The bowl and water compartment both need handling with care. In particular, I found the way that the latter attaches to the machine a little bit delicate. Press the mode button and choose the blend option. Set the blend time using the +/- buttons for a maximum blend time of 2 minutes.

Simple hand-held blenders can be electrical or manual. To the right, and at the same time as you’re using the steaming side, you can blend using a 600ml capacity jug. (That's the max capacity for blending, though the jug can actually hold 700mls if you pop it in the fridge as storage).Using the basket to steam food before blending reduces the amount of water in the food and makes it easier to achieve a chunky texture. Take care when removing the jug and lid as steam may still be present and the jug may be hot to touch.

There are five, and between them, they can blend, slice, grate, knead, and even crush ice.
