I adored this beautifully written, riveting mystery. Chase is peerless in her ability to stitch together dark secrets and tantalising twists with unforgettable characters and enthralling imagery. I am a die-hard fan! -- Rosie Walsh, bestselling author of The Man Who Didn't Call This adds tension to the book,as you know it has to be something pretty major to have the effect it has. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a free digital copy of this book. The following is my honest review.

In Charles, the author gives us a portrait of a mercurial, rather self-obsessed artist who pours his energy into making art rather than sustaining relationships. ‘He has an ability to detach from his subjects; to see human beings as arrangement of form and flesh in space, volume and light; a technical challenge to be solved.’ His three marriages are not the only evidence of his inability to be faithful but his dedication to art has come at a cost. Three estranged half sisters travel to their aging artist father's beach estate for a weekend to hear his "big announcement." While they're there, old drama and secrets are dug up, including some that a few people really, really wish would stay hidden.

One of the most enthralling novelists of the moment. This is the most beautiful book you will read this year Flora, Kat, and Lauren are half-sisters, all products of their artist father Charlie’s randy ways. As kids, they used to spend every August together at their father’s summer home in Cornish; Flora and Kat teaming up against Lauren, whom they resented since her mother was Charlie’s favorite. But they haven’t been together for twenty years, ever since a tragedy happened at the home. Now Charlie has summoned his daughters home, ostensibly to clean out the place since their grandmother passed away. But old resentments die hard; Charlie has an announcement that will stun them, and someone is leaving anonymous threatening notes. What really happened on the night of the eclipse twenty years ago? And who will pay for it now? While I did enjoy this one, it took me quite a while to read. Perhaps if I had read it in one sitting, I would have enjoyed it more. The pace was a little slow to me and I struggled a bit to keep the sisters straight as I read it. I still am a fan of this author and I’ll be anxiously awaiting her next book. Reunions can be a minefield for exposing dysfunctional family relationships. When Flora, Kat and Lauren gather at the Cornish coast for a visit with their ailing father, they face all the pitfalls of a reunion, in addition to remembering a traumatic event that took place on the evening of a summer eclipse when they were just girls. When threatening notes are found at the house and tires are slashed, the family wonders who might also know their precious secrets. She is a graduate of Manchester University with a degree in English Literature. She has written for publications including InStyle, Dazed and Confused, Red, You, Marie-Claire, and national newspapers. Atmospheric and beautifully written. I absolutely loved it. -- Jane Fallon, bestselling author of Worst Idea Ever Flora and Kat were always closer - they didn't even find out about Lauren until she was almost a teenager. It proves for a distinct dynamic - two against one. Flora is married with a child and is the prototypical beautiful stay-at-home wife with a perfect life. (or is that just what she wants others to see?) Kat is the drivin, non-nonsense businesswoman whose life revolves around the company she built. Lauren rounds out the three and is the most fragile. Raised by her single mom who lived the bohemian life - bringing Lauren travelling with her around the world - seems lost now as her mother recently passed away. However Jesse finds herself at odds with her fifteen year old stepdaughter, being increasingly isolated in their sprawling new home, and haunted by the odd rumors which surround this manor.

The Birdcage is a show-stopping novel - beautifully written and atmospheric, with a cast of fascinating, brilliantly realised characters whose story kept me absolutely gripped....one of the only writers I would drop anything for.' Rosie Walsh, author of The Love of My Life, Ghosted The Harrington family takes her in and disbelief soon turns to joy. They are grieving their own horrible tragedy and this gorgeous baby fills them with hope, and lights up the house’s dusty and dark corners. Desperate not to lose her to the authorities, they keep her a secret, suspended in this blissful summer world where normal rules of behavior, as well as the law, really do not appear to apply. I love Eve Chase novels. I’ve never read one I didn’t enjoy. I was therefore so excited to see her fourth novel is coming out soon and I was thrilled to be able to read an advanced copy. The Birdcage By Eve Chase Review: PlotSublime writing, secrets, lovable characters I didn't want to leave, and a ripping plot twist that kept me guessing. An absolute jewel of a book Dinah Jefferies, bestselling author of The Tuscan Contessa In the US , The Glass House is published as The Daughters of Foxcote Manor. The Vanishing of Audrey Wilde as The Wildling Sisters. But despite the distance of time between that fateful summer and the present day, the things that happened there were forever burned into the memories of each of the sisters…” Rita’s parents died in a horrible car crash when she was only six years old, and ever since, she’s always craved a family. She had lived with her grandmother in Torquay before she got a job as a maid for the Harrington family in London. Her engagement with Fred in Torquay fell, and soon the Harringtons became her family. But after a fire burned down the London house, Jeanie Harrington and her two children, along with Rita, relocated to a house in the Forest of Dean. The house wasn’t quite shabby, but it was not up to the standards of the London house before the fire.
