About this deal

Although we haven’t tested it in the rain, it could probably provide some protection if it’s a light rain shower. Our experience with this chair agrees very well with that feedback, and we can highly recommend it as a comfortable ‘all situations’ camping chair. We cannot think of another chair on the market which can be chucked in a backpack or car boot and provide so much comfort in such a cool way. Well actually no – the Orson inflatable lounger uses a simple yet amazing concept that we cannot believe has taken so long to be dreamt up. The KingCamp Padded Director’s Chair continues that tradition and offers some nice little extras which raise it on to the winner’s podium of folding camping chairs.

Admittedly there’s a little bit of roll together, but not many camping chairs have such flexibility. But there is, and it represents probably the best combination of everything you require from a camping chair – comfort, weight, cost and packing space. On taking out the contents, you are faced with a bit of a conundrum – how to put the thing together? The Alpha Camp chair is a slightly unusual leftfield choice, but the inclusion of the sunshade is pretty unique on the UK market.

The Marko chair uses a tried and trusted folding collapsible leg system, seen on countless other competitors. Aimed at the younger market (although certainly not restricted to them) with a bunch of loud colours in the lineup, the Orson is essentially a large bag which can be waved around your head to fill up with air and then sealed via a velcro strip. The combination of Covid lockdowns and incredible sunny weather has caused a big spurt in people camping. In this case there are three poles emanating from the rear feet rather than the usual two – this provides greater stability than cheaper alternatives. The Kingcamp is an extremely comfortable place to rest your weary bones, with ample padding on both the back and seat to provide a pleasurable perch for your posterior. In use, we found it comfortable and rugged – there doesn’t seem much chance of legs breaking or material wearing away.

Added to this, there is an integrated pocket on the side of the chair for sticking a bottle of beer or a magazine. The Quechua chair is more of a traditional camping chair - it offers excellent folding ability with that all-important reclining function for a gentle snooze after lunch. The chair legs are strong and sturdy – this is a quality item and is capable of supporting people up to 180kg.In this case there are three poles emanating from the rear two feet rather than the usual two – this provides greater stability than usual. The back of the chair provides enough support, but the seat is lacking a bit of padding for extend sitting periods. The KingCamp chair uses a tried and trusted folding collapsible leg system, seen on countless other competitors. Kingcamp are a fairly new camping equipment company, but we have found that they consistently offer decent value with sturdy and comfortable gear.
